Robert Salaburu Eliminated In Eighth Place ($971,252)Oct 29, '12 It took four hours of play for the second elimination at the 2012 World Series of Poker main event final table, and it took a bad beat to do it. Robert Salaburu was coasting along at the final table, doing his best to stay afloat. Sitting in the middle of the pack with a stack of 20 million, he three-bet an opening raise and a flat from Jeremy Ausmus and Jesse Sylvia, only to see Jacob Balsiger move all in behind him. The all in bet was for 10 million and Salaburu made the call with pocket queens. Unfortunately for him, he was up against pocket kings and received no help. The hand left him among the three short stacks, so when Sylvia put him all in from the small blind, he immediately made the call with pocket sevens. Sylvia could only show down Q 5, but connected with the cruelest river card Salaburu will ever see on a board of A A 4 2 Q to increase his chip lead and send the San Antonio, Texas native packing in eighth place. The 27-year-old earned $971,252 for his finish, and looked visibly upset when talking to ESPN’s Kara Scott after his elimination. Player Tags: Robert Salaburu |
