A dozen hands in Elezra raised and Daniel Negreanu reraised. Negreanu called and both players drew one card. They checked the rest of the way and both drew one card each time. Elezra showed a Q-7-5-3-2 and he took the smallest of leads after Negreanu mucked. Eli Elezra Wins Event No. 59 ($173,236) — Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in Second Place ($107,055) Daniel Negreanu raised, Eli Elezra reraised, and Negreanu reraised all in. Elezra called and drew one card. Negreanu took two cards and then Elezra stood pat on the next round. Negreanu drew one, and drew one additional card on the final drawing round as well. Negreanu held a K-8-6-4-3 and Elezra was ahead with 9-8-6-5-2 so he won the pot and the tournament. Negreanu was eliminated in second place and took home $107,055. Elezra was awarded his second gold bracelet and the top prize worth $173,236 in prize money. Chiu took two and both players checked. The next drawing round saw Elezra grab one and Chiu took two again. Elezra bet and Chiu called. Both players drew one card on the last round and then Elezra bet. Chiu raised all in and Elezra called. Chiu showed 8-7-4-3-2 and Elezra held 7-6-5-3-2. Chiu was eliminated in fourth place and Elezra grew his stack to 800,000. Brian Brubaker Doubles Three Times Before Dinner Brian Brubaker doubled up three times during Level 25 and he is among the final three players that went to dinner break. In the first double up Brubaker revealed a 7-6-5-4-2 low against Eli Elezra to take his stack to 450,000. The second double came courtesy of Daniel Negreanu when his 9-6-5-4-3 beat the K-7-5-4-3 of Negreanu when he drew a king. That hand left Brubaker with just 90,000 though, since he had lost a large pot to Negreanu prior in the level. His last double before dinner saw Brubaker table a 8-5-4-3-2 and once again Negreanu drew a king to settle with a K-7-6-5-3. Brubaker was up to 220,000 after the hand, but Negreanu still held the lead with over a million. Follain was at about 5 million after the hand. Sami Kelopuro Eliminated Sami Kelopuro was down to under 10 big blinds and got his stack in preflop with K-5. He was called by A-7 and was live. However, the board ran out in his opponent’s favor and he was gone. Eli Elezra Eliminated Eli Elezra got his short stack in with pocket tens against Jared Vengrin’s K-K. The under pair failed to come from behind and Elezra was gone. Sorel Mizzi Suffers Brutal Beat, Hits Rail Sorel Mizzi was all in with 6-6 on a 9-9-6 board. Blom reached such lofty heights in a hand where the board read K 8 7 9. David Weisberger bet 3,000 on the turn and Blom raised to 10,000. Weisberger made the call and the river fell Q. Weisberger checked and Blom fired a 40,000 mortar into the 25,000 pot. Weisberger would have to risk his tournament life to make the call and so he decided to fold. He doubled up twice to even up the chip counts and then he took control to win the second match and tie things up 1-1. When the score was evened it was 3 a.m. local time last night and the two decided to stop play and return today at a time to be determined. However, fortunately both players were left relatively unscathed. With blinds at 50-100, the player in mid-position raised to 300. Frankenberger called, as did Shulman from the small blind. The big blind also came along for the ride and the flop came down 10-10-4. Shulman checked, the big blind bet 450, and the original bettor folded. Frankenberger made the call and then Shulman raised it up to 2,000. The two players called and the turn was a 7. Shulman bet 10,000 and the big blind folded. Frankenberger called and the river was a 4. Shulman then shoved all in and saw a call from Frankenberger. The river card meant the two would see a chopped pot as Shulman held A-10 and Frankenberger held Q-10. A lucky escape for Frankenberger as both players’ stacks hover around the 35,000 mark. The turn brought a 4 and Benyamine bet again. This time Wilf raised and Benyamine reraised all in. Wilf made the call for his tournament life and flipped over pocket tens for the set.
