The flop was dealt A94 and the two players checked. They checked again after the 9 on the turn. After the 2 fell on the river the big blind bet 5,000 and middle position called.

The big blind showed AK to win the main and side pot. Middle position showed 88 and Shulman was eliminated with A10.

William Cabre had picked up the QQ moved all in. It folded around and the two flipped up their hands.

The board ran out K87JQ to secure the pot for Cabre and send Shulman to the rail late in level 4. Shulman has since re-entered.

With a board of 7632 Barry Shulman bet 7,000. The player directly to his left made the call and Joan Sandoval moved all in for 12,150 total.

Both Shulman and the third player made the call. The river was the 9 and both players checked.

Shulman turned over the 1010 and the third player mucked his hand. Being all in Sandoval had to show her A3 for a pair and the nut flush draw, but it did not improve and Shulman’s pair was enough to secure him the pot. He now sits with over 60,000.

Evan McNiff, who has $1.1 million in live tournament earnings, and 2013 World Poker Tour Player of the year Matt Salsberg is also looking to make it through the day. There are currently 45 players registered for the event as the first level nears its midway point.

Barry Shulman Eliminated By Sebastian Tejada

We walked over to see that Barry Shulman had been eliminated and the players at the table were kind enough to fill us in on the action.

Shulman raised, the player on his left three-bet to 1,100 and Sebastian Tejada four-bet to 2,7000. Shulman then moved all in for nearly 8,000 and the player on his left moved all in as well.

Tejada called all in for more than Shulman and turned over pocket kings. They were well ahead of Shulman’s pocket sevens and the other player’s pocket tens. The flop brought a seven, but it also brought a king.

Tejada won the pot, increasing his stack to about 30,000. Shulman was eliminated and the other player was left short.

NOTE: Shulman has already purchased a re-buy into the tournament and was accidentally seated in his exact same seat before being moved to a new table.

Barry Shulman raised to 525 from under the gun and was called by a number of players, including someone in middle position and both blinds. The flop came down A82 and Shulman bet 2,000.

The middle position player called, as did the big blind. The turn was the 4 and Shulman went all in for what appeared to be 12,325. His opponent called and the big blind folded what he later claimed to be a straight and flush draw.

“It’s just not my day,” Shulman said, turning over AK. However, his opponent winced as he revealed his own AJ.

The river was the 10 and Shulman doubled up to about 33,000.

Barry Shulman Eliminated By Sebastian Tejada

We walked over to see that Barry Shulman had been eliminated and the players at the table were kind enough to fill us in on the action.

Shulman raised, the player on his left three-bet to 1,100 and Sebastian Tejada four-bet to 2,7000. Shulman then moved all in for nearly 8,000 and the player on his left moved all in as well.

Tejada called all in for more than Shulman and turned over pocket kings. They were well ahead of Shulman’s pocket sevens and the other player’s pocket tens. The flop brought a seven, but it also brought a king.

Tejada won the pot, increasing his stack to about 30,000. Shulman was eliminated and the other player was left short.

NOTE: Shulman has already purchased a re-buy into the tournament and was accidentally seated in his exact same seat before being moved to a new table.

Shulman got a sweat with a straight draw, but his opponent wound up making quads to eliminate him from the tournament.

Barry Shulman Gets Paid Off

Barry Shulman raised to 525 from under the gun and was called by a number of players, including someone in middle position and both blinds. The flop came down A82 and Shulman bet 2,000.

The middle position player called, as did the big blind. The turn was the 4 and Shulman went all in for what appeared to be 12,325. His opponent called and the big blind folded what he later claimed to be a straight and flush draw.

“It’s just not my day,” Shulman said, turning over AK. However, his opponent winced as he revealed his own AJ.

The river was the 10 and Shulman doubled up to about 33,000.

He went over some rules and then passed the mic over to Card Player publisher Barry Shulman, who kicked off the action with “Let’s Play Poker!”

The players will start with 25,000 in chips and blinds of 50-100. Levels will be 90-minutes long. A dinner break will occur after four levels of action.

Both opponents called and the turn was the 10. Everyone checked and the river was the A. Shulman bet 5,000 and Medici moved all in. The third player folded and Shulman called off his last 6,000 or so.

Shulman showed pocket nines for a straight, but Medici’s K Q made broadway sending the Card Player publisher to the rail. Medici now has 42,000 in chips.

Barry Shulman Busts Flush Over Flush

We walked up to Barry Shulman’s table to find that he was missing in action, so the rest of the table filled us in on the details.

Shulman raised to 500 and was called by Bob Rawls in early position. The flop came down J 7 4 and Rawls led for 1,000. Shulman raised to 2,200 and Rawls called.

The turn was the 6 and Rawls checked. Shulman bet 3,000 and Rawls called. The river was the 8 and Rawls bet 3,000.

Shulman moved all in for his last 7,500 and Rawls made the call. Shulman showed 4 3 for a rivered flush, but Rawls one-upped him by turning over Q J for a better flush.

Shulman was sent to the rail after the cooler and Rawls chipped up to 29,000.

His better half, Allyn Jaffrey Shulman, however, is still going strong with over 20,000 in chips.
