Jun 21, '08
Blinds: 1,500-3,000
Players Left: 30 of 605
Average Chip Stack: 80,667
Chip Counts:
Michael Binger: 212,500
Keith Lehr: 150,000
Jan von Halle: 126,000
Lee Watkinson: 108,000
Chris Bell: 100,000
Davood Mehrmand: 88,000
Benjamin Roberts: 85,000
Robert Cheung: 77,000
David Chicotsky: 72,000
Jeff Sluzinski: 70,000
Eliminations: Clonie Gowen, Shane Schleger, Matthew Hilger, Marco Traniello
Big Hands:
Last Woman Gone, Gowen Busts
Clonie Gowen got all in on the river with the board showing 865A10. Gentleman Ben Roberts turned over 1010 for the rivered set and a very disapointed Gowen showed AJ. Gowen vocalized her mistake before leaving the table. Instead of raising Roberts off his hand when he bet the ace turn card, she said she had let him play to the river where he caught his set. And with that, the last woman in the field is gone.
Schleger Loses Big Pot...
The tournament is down to 4 tables, and one stands among the others. Clonie Gowen and Shane Schleger joined the table already featuring Ben Roberts and Eugene Todd. Schleger ran into a massive bump in the road when he got Keith Lehr all in and showed 10-10. Lehr showed J-J and the board came K-Q-5-5-9. Schleger lost a lot of chips in the hand and dropped to around 75,000, while Lehr approached 150,000.
... Eliminated Shortly After
A few hands after losing the big hand Schleger was short on chips and raised from early position, only to have Chris Bell raise him all in from the button. Schleger reluctantly made the call and Bell showed JJ. Schleger had only one live card, holding KJ. The board missed him, coming 109369 and Schleger was eliminated. Bell jumped over 100,000 in chips after the hand.
Hilger Loses Flip, Gone
Matthew Hilger got all in with big slick against Jan von Halle's pocket 9s. The flop came 9-8-3 and Hilger was in bad shape. The turn 2 and river jack didn't save Hilger and he was eliminated.

Pros Nailing Each Other
Jun 26, '07
So many pros enter the tournaments base upon the "dead money" all of the amateur players bring to the table. Then why are so many of them knocking each other out. Well its kill or be killed as always.
Alex Kravchenko butted heads with Clonie Gowen on hand that would eventually send him packing. On the turn, with the board reading J 10 4 3 , Gowen bet $800, Kravchenko raised to $1,600, Gowen re-raised to $2,400, and Kravchenko called. The river was the 4 , Gowen bet and Kravchenko called. Gowen showed Q Q , and Kravchenko was crippled. He was eliminated a few hands later.
Rolf Slotboom had his pocket Aces hold up depsite a very scary board. On the river with the board reading Q J J K 2 , Slotboom bet $800, only to get raised by his opponent. Slotboom made the call reluctantly, and breathed easier when his opponent showed K-Q.
Matthew Hilger was crippled after folding to Noah Boeken on the river, and he was soon replaced by Juha Helppi.
Men Nguyen has not gone the level without having a little fun. A short stack was all in, and was sitting pretty with a full house. his opponent had called with two hearts, and needed one more on the river for a meaningless flush. Nguyen called out for the 6 on the river, and thats what fell. The player who made the flush was so flustered that he actually thought that his flush wasn't good.
There's approximately 170 players left in the tournament with about 4 hours of play left.

Hour One Recap
Jun 22, '07
Apparently $4,000 doesn’t provide enough play for J.C. Tran. Having been crippled in a previous hand, Tran finds himself all-in against another player’s Q 4 with a board of A Q J 3 9. Unable to beat the Queens, Tran mucks and exits quickly today.
With only one quadrant of the Amazon Room filled today, it looks like this field will be very close to the 590 from last year. The number of familiar faces are greater per table than in yesterday’s $1,500 no limit field. At least two pros per table is standard. One table of note is Table 10 which houses Joe Hachem, Erica Schoenberg, Matt Hilger, and Gioi Luong. Schoenberg took a pot off of Hachem early on. The two of them saw a limped flop K Q 7 with one other player. The turn came 8, Hachem bet $150, and both Schoenberg and the other player called. The river was the 10, Hachem bet $425, and only Schoenberg called. Schoenberg showed 9 6, and Hachem mucked. They’ve had a fun time at their table as well. When a new dealer sat down, he asked them, “We’re playing Omaha right?” as he dealt out each player four cards. They all politely corrected him and got back to business.
Apparently the dealers aren’t the only ones who aren’t paying attention. One player wanted to draw attention to the fact that the player in Seat 1 had won with a walk in the big blind. This is only interesting because Seat 1 had yet to arrive at his table. Somebody should nudge the Player in Seat 10 and wake him up.
Another stacked table of note includes Michael Mizrachi, Jon Friedberg, Ralph Perry, Jean Gaspard, and Eric “Rizen” Lynch. Lynch along with John Gale, and Doug Carli will be mapping their progress today in our Pro Blogs.
