Level 6 Update -- EPT Barcelona Runner Up Runs Out Of Chips
Oct 02, '09
Blinds: 200-400 with a 50 ante
Players Remaining: 230 out of 305 (Unofficial)
Average Chip Count:
40,000
Notable Eliminations:
Marc Goodwin
Hand of the Level:
Marc Goodwin Says Goodbye
We mentioned EPT Barcelona Champion Carter Phillips last level, but his runner-up finisher Marc Goodwin is also playing today, or at least he was.
Goodwin got it all in preflop with pocket aces against his opponent’s pocket queens. The board brought an ace, but it also brought four spades to give his opponent the winning flush and send Goodwin packing.
Left In The Deck:
Not much else to report other than it’s dinner time here in London. The players will no doubt flood the restaurants here at the Hilton Metropole, or perhaps make the trek to the McDonalds/Indian Take Out/Italian Sit Down places across the street.

Kravchenko got it in with the best hand, but this is poker and that doesn't count for much. Kravchenko was eliminated while Forrest raked another pot.
Isabelle Mercier Scoops a Pot Off of Patrik Antonius
Omaha
Daniel Negreanu limped from under the gun and Isabelle Mercier raised from middle position. Patrik Antonuis called the raise from the big blind as did Negreanu. The flop came A Q J , and both Antonius and Negreanu checked to Mercier who bet. Antonius called and Negreanu folded. The turn was the 3 and Anonius checked to Mercier who bet, Antonius called. The river was the 4 and once again Antonius check-called Mericer on the river. Mercier turned over A A 6 5 for top set (high) and a 6-5-4-3-A low. Mericer scooped the pot.
Allen Kessler Takes a Pot From Patrik Antonius
Razz
Patrik Antonius continues to lose chips at his table, this time to Allen kessler. Antonius bet the door car and Kessler called. On fourth street Jessler paired aces and check-called Antonius. When Antonius paired nines on fifth street, Kessler took the betting lead and continued to bet on sixth street. Antonius called him down and both palyers checked on the river.
Antonius: 6 4 9 3 - X-X-X
Kessler: A A 5 6 - Jx8 3
Kessler turned over an 8-6 (8-6-5-3-A) and Antonius mucked his hand. Antonius is now down to just over 50,000 in chips while Kessler moves up over 175,000 after this hand.
Dewey Tomko Staying Alive

Dewey Tonko completed the bet with the 9 in the door and Marc Goodwin called the raise with the A . Goodwin hit the 3 on fourth street and led out with a bet. Tomko called with the 8 . Tomko made a pair of eights on fifth street and took the betting lead the rest of the way. Goodwin looked him up with a showdown on the river.
Tomko: 9 8 8 10 - J J 7
Goodwin: A 3 Q 2 - X-X-X
Tomko turned over two pair (jacks and eights) on seventh street and Goodwin mucked his hand. Tonko climbed up fom the short stack a little bit to around 60,000 while Goodwin fell down to about 120,000 in chips after this hand.

Mercier: 6 9 8 8 - K 3 2
Elezra made two pair on the river, no low, while Mercier turned over three clubs for a king-high flush. Elezra is eliminated from the tournament while Mercier chips up to just about 300,000.

Players Left: 123 of 235
Chip Counts:
Soheil Shamseddin: 115,000
James DiGiorgio: 92,800
Erick Lindgren: 91,700
Chau Giang: 84,700
Bruno FItoussi: 84,600
Annie Duke: 83,700
DR Kegel: 82,000
Brad Booth: 79,900
Tony Ma: 79,400
Meng La: 76,800
Average Chip Stack: 38,211
Eliminations: Greg Raymer, John Hennigan, Hasan Habib
Big Hands:
Only Jesus...
Most of the buzz around the room has been about Chris "Jesus" Ferguson. He came into the day as the tournament's short stack with just 3,300.
So what had Mike "the Mouth" Matusow yelling (or just normal talk for Matusow?) that Ferguson would be chip leader before long? Ferguson chipped all the way up to 25,000 in the first half of the level.
"How much is an autograph going for?" Matusow joked with Ferguson. "I'll give you mine for free if you give me yours for 50."
Negreanu Bid Farewell
Daniel Negreanu chopped a pot with Jennifer Harman when the board ran K-7-2-A-4 and Negreanu showed A-J-10-7 for the best two pair, and Harman showed A-9-6-4 for the 7-low.
One hand later Negreanu was all in and his chances weren't as good, up against Hasan Habib, Men "The Master" Nguyen and Jennifer Harman. The flop came 10 8 7 and Habib checked to Nyguen, who bet 1,500. Harman and Habib called and the turn brought the 6 . All players put in another 3,000 to see the river J . Habib put his remaining 800 in and Nguyen put out a bet of 3,000 that was called by Harman.
Nguyen showed 3 2 4 2 for a flush and Habib showed A 2 5 5 for the low. Harman mucked and Negreanu was eliminated.
Goodwin Takes The Enitre Pot
Marc Goodwin called James DiGiorgio's bets on every street on a board of K-8-7-Q-Q and flipped over A-A-Q-2. DiGiorgio showed a king and mucked, and Goodwin climbed toward 20,000.
The Matadore Double
Carlos Mortensen started the day with 7,400 in chips but recently doubled to around 18,000 when he got all in preflop and the board came 9 8 2 Q Q . Mortenson showed A-8-7-3, which was good enough to take the pot.
A Jesus-Like Tale
Tom Schneider has also had a Jesus-like resurrection, starting the day with just 4,400 and climbing up to around 25,000. However, Schneider just took a hit when he called an opponent all the way then raised on the river. As soon as his opponent called Schneider said, "You got it. I missed everything," and mucked. His opponent showed 10 9 for a full house. Schneider fell to around 20,000.
A Pretty Big Hand
Brad Booth bet out on a board of 5 2 2 9 and Jeff Madsen let his hand go. Booth then said, "A pretty big hand..." and showed A-2-3-K for a set of deuces and the nut low draw.
Fashionably Late
David Benyamine just sat down at Mike Matusow's table halfway through the level. Matusow, who has been singing and chatting away, said he wasn't sure if Benyamine was going to show up today.

Gracz Busts Raymer
Greg Raymer, on a short stack, gets all his chips in against Michael Gracz on a J 7 3 K 9 board. Raymer seemed optimistic about his pair of jacks but was met with bad news when Gracz revealed K K for a set of kings. The newly busted Raymer let everyone know his thoughts about the game that ousted him, shouting, “Limit poker sucks!” Michael Gracz, now with 17,000 chips, might disagree.
Omaha/8b
Glantz Doubles Up
On a board of Q T 7 K 3 , Matthew Glantz gets it all in against his opponent. Glantz happily tables A J 5 2 and takes down the whole pot with the broadway straight. Despite this pot, Glantz still has a lot of work to do with only 13,000 chips.
Stud/8b
Aces-Up Propel Luske
Marcell Luske has an opponent all in after 3rd street and the two reveal their cards:
Luske: (A A )2
Opponent: (Q Q )2
Luske’s next card was the 2 and his two-pair would go on to claim the pot. Despite sitting at a table with Todd Brunson and Kevin Saul, Luske has managed to work his way to 37,000 in chips.

Average Stack: 22,175
Eliminations:
Mark Vos
Todd Lundwell
Shinchi Chien
J.W. Smith
Big Hands and Storylines:
Hold’em
Oh the Zhu-manity
Mark Vos got the majority of his 9,000 chips in pre-flop against Yueqi Zhu and the rest went in on a K 5 3 flop. “That’s a good flop for me,” said Vos. It was indeed, as Vos turned over A K . Zhu’s 7 7 was drawing to two outs. The J on the turn was unimportant, but the river was a stunning 7 , eliciting an emphatic “Yes!” from Zhu and causing Vos to spring from his chair and leave the area in incredibly swift fashion. Zhu is now up to quite a hale 35,500.
Omaha/8b
Saul’s Solid Stack Skyrockets
Seated right next to one another, Todd Brunson and Kevin “bel0wab0ve” Saul tangled in a pot. Brunson raised from the small blind and Saul called from the big blind. The flop came A Q 4 and Brunson bet into Saul. Saul called and the duo saw a 3 turn. Brunson checked this time, but called after Saul’s bet of 1,600. Brunson wasn’t so keen about the 6 on the river apparently, as he check-folded, dropping his stack down to 39,000. Kevin Saul’s stack of 57,000 is now top among the chip leaders.
Mark Roland Doubles Up
After a great deal of betting pre-flop and on the flop, Mark Roland found himself all in against Max Pescatori on a 10 4 3 flop. Pescatori declared that he had nut-nut and flopped over A 6 3 3 , a decidedly non-nut hand but still good for a set of threes. Mark Roland showed the goods however (as good as a series of draws can be anyway), revealing A A 7 2 for the nut flush draw, a gutshot straight draw and the nut low draw. The river was the 9 , which didn’t help Roland at all. But the J on the river was Roland’s saving grace, giving him the entire pot and doubling him up to 14,000. Pescatori’s loss drops him to 18,000.

Boris Becker and the Table of Death
Apr 13, '08
On a flop of 8 5 5 former tennis star Boris Becker called a bet of 1,000. The turn came 2 , Becker checked but called another bet of 1,500 and the river came J . The Team PokerStars pro from Germany checked again, but called a bet of 2,000 and his opponent tabled K 5 for a flopped set and Becker mucked.
Several others at the table sneaked glances at each other, no doubt wishing they had been at the receiving end of such loose play.
Elsewhere Antonio Esfandiari has joined Gus Hansen, Dario Alioto, Max Pescatori, and Marc Goodwin at the Table of Death. Ram Vaswani has what looks like over 30,000 in chips and is at a new table and William Thorsson has moved to join Chad Brown, Daniel Negreanu and Paul Testud.
A short-stacked Gavin Griffin tried to get involved in a pot by calling a raise of 600 pre-flop but a board of A K 6 saw his opponent make the first move and Grifin quickly folded and auto-counted his remaing chips - all 10 or so of them totalling about 2,000.

Daniel Negreanu Loses Two Pots
Apr 12, '08
Team PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu lost two pots in a row to knock him back to just under 20,000 in chips. The first was to veteran Frenchman Paul Testud who flopped an ace to match the one in his hand and while Negreanu claimed he also had a pair it wasn't as good.
The next hand saw Negreanu come out raising in the big blind but it wasn't enough to shake the small blind and a series of checks later saw Negreanu again defeated.
Elsewhere, Englishman Marc Goodwin has been moved to Max Pescatori and Gus Hansen's table. Vicky Coren has lost around one-third of her starting stack and looks a little agitated, and Boris Becker is studying his table very closely.
