Josh Adkins In The Mix

Josh Adkins has taken a seat on day 1C. The 2019 WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble main event champion secured his largest tournament payday earlier this year, finishing second in the $10,000 pot-limit Omaha championship at the World Series of Poker for $880,621.

Adkins now has nearly $1.3 million in career earnings, and will be looking to add to that total with a strong showing in this event.

Josh Adkins Eliminated In 22nd Place ($5,486)

Josh Adkins lost the majority of his stack when he raised a river bet from Matthew Leecy on a 422AA board. He raised Leecy’s 50,000 bet to 130,000, leaving himself 8,000 behind, and folded when Leecy moved all-in.

Adkins was soon all-in with A8 facing the AJ of Leecy.

The board came down 107245 and Leecy made the nut flush to send Adkins home with $5,486 for his 22nd-place showing. The 2019 WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble main event winner now has nearly $379,000 in lifetime earnings.

Chongyou Chen Hero Calls

With a board of 854K, Chongyou Chen checked and Josh Adkins bet 88,000.

Chen called and the river was the 7. Chen checked again and Adkins bet 145,000.

Chen went deep into the tank, bet then slid in the call and flipped over JJ.

Adkins showed A5 and mucked to send the massive pot to Chen, who chipped up to 753,000. Adkins slid to 161,000 after the hand.

Jeremy Gaubert Takes The Chip Lead

Jeremy Gaubert raised to 1,200 in middle position and Josh Adkins three-bet immediately behind him to 3,100. Gaubert called and the flop came down KQ6.

Gaubert checked and Adkins bet 2,600. Gaubert then check-raised to 6,200. Adkins went into the tank for about 30 seconds and then decided to move all in for about an additional 14,000.

Gaubert quickly called with KQ and Adkins could only shake his head in disappointment.

“I’m dead,” he said, turning over K8.

He wasn’t quite dead, but the 3 and 4 on the turn and river weren’t enough to keep him in the tournament.

Gaubert is now the chip leader with 105,000.

Josh Adkins Sends A Player To The Rail

There was heavy betting on a K103 flop, with Josh Adkins putting out a bet. An opponent shoved, and Adkins insta-called with the K10.

“Do you have a set of threes?” he asked his opponent.

Adkins was up against the A5. According to Card Player’s Texas Hold’em Odds Calculator, Adkins’ hand holds up nearly 64 percent of the time.

The turn was the 6 and the river was the 2, which gave Adkins a flush to take the pot. He grew his stack to roughly 80,000.
