Chance Kornuth raised to 280,000 from the button and Ted Martin moved all in from the small blind for 550,000. Kevin Boudreau called and so did Kornuth.

The flop came 6102 and Boudreau moved all in for 340,000 more. Kormuth made the call and had both Boudreau and Martin at risk. Their hands:

Boudreau: AQK5
Kornuth: A872
Martin: AKJ6

The turn was the 9, giving Boudreau the ace-high flush. The 4 landed on the river and Martin was eliminated while Boudreau tripled up to 2.4 million.

Two Pair Busts Smith in 3rd ($226,923)

Danny Smith raised only to have Kevin Boudreau put him all in. Smith called and they showed down:

Boudreau: AK73

The board ran out 936QK and Smith was blasted in 3rd place, winning $226,923.

With that, Kevin Boudreau and Chance Kornuth were heads up with 3.6 million versus 3.2 million.

With Danny Smith raising to 65,000 and Robert Mizrachi calling in front of him, Jose Barbero pushed his last 256,000 all in. Smith called and Mizrachi folded. Their hands:

Smith hit a set on the flop of A86 and Barbero was in trouble. The turn was the 4 and the 6 river sent Barbero to the rail in 9th for $40,364.

Robert Mizrachi check-raised a flop of 37J to 480,000 after Scott Mandel led with 120,000. Mandel reraised all in, having Mizrachi covered. Mizrachi called. Their hands:

Mizrachi was trailing but the K turn gave him even more cards to draw to. The 5 hit on the river and Mandel held on to knock Mizrachi out in 8th place ($52,471).

Mandel had 1.3 million after the win.

Liu Outdrawn, Gone in 7th ($68,902)

Chance Kornuth raised to 60,000 and Eric Liu potted to 225,000. Kornuth made the call and the flop ran A107.

Kornuth moved all in and Liu called, putting his tournament life on the line. Their hands:

Kornuth: QJ102

Liu held top set but Kornuth had straight and flush draws. The K turn card nailed Kornuth’s straight draw and the 9 river meant that Liu was gone in 7th place, making $68,902.

Kornuth’s stack grew to 1.6 million.

Huck Seed Eliminated

Huck Seed, on a precariously short stack, raised from the button and the big blind called. Seed bet the A64 flop and his opponent called. Seed got the last of his money in on the Q turn and the two showed their cards:

Seed: AAK4
Opponent: K752

Seed had a set of aces but his opponent was freerolling for a scoop with a made low and an open-ended straight draw. The river was the 3, giving Seed’s opponent the nut low and a 7-high straight. Seed slowly slid out of his chair and exited the room, but not before tossing in a thought, “That was a good flop for you.”

“Don’t Let Matusow Win Another Pot”

That quote comes from none other than 2008 World Series bracelet winner... Mike Matusow? Clearly concerned about the tournament chances of his tablemates, Matusow was kind enough to give his peers a word of advice, but could they successfully follow it? We found out only seconds after Matusow’s  word of caution:

Danny Smith raised from early position and Mr. Matusow himself 3-bet from the button. Smith called and the two of them saw a flop. A97 rolled out and Smith check-called Matusow’s bet. The action was the same on the Q turn, then both players checked the 4 on the river. “Three aces,” said Matusow. His opponent mucked his hand and Matusow’s AA92 scooped the pot.

After the pot Matusow had another tip, this one perhaps more relevant to the dealer: “Don’t let Matusow pick up the ace-ace-deuce every hand.”

“The Mouth”, once down to only 20,000, is now up to 110,000.

Evdakov Eliminates Annie Duke

Ram Vaswani raised under-the-gun to 8,000, Nikolay Evdakov called from middle position, and Annie Duke called from the button. Both blinds folded, and the flop came down J109. Vaswani checked, Evdakov bet, Duke raised, leaving herself only 1,000 behind, and both Vaswani and Evdakov called. On the A turn, Vaswani checked again, Evdakov bet, Duke called all-in for her final thousand, and Vaswani called. The river was the J and Vaswani folded to a bet from Evdakov. The Russian showed AQQJ for a full house, enough to win the pot and dismiss Duke. Evdakov is now up to 110,000, though still far short of Vaswani’s 180,000.
