Hold’em
Ivey Gaining Steam
The action picks up on the flop of A24. The small blind bet into Ivey and he made the call. The turn was the 4 and again the other player bet and was met by a call from Ivey. The river was the J and the action went bet-call a third time. The players showed their hands:
Small blind: A7
Phil Ivey: AQ
The pot was a big one for Ivey who now has a better than average stack of 44,000
Stud
AAA Rescues Binger, But Only Temporarily
Binger: A2J10
Opponent 3728
Michael Binger, perilously low on chips, bet on every street and was called all the way down. On 7th street Binger put his last 2,400 chips into the middle. His opponent, not showing a tremendously dangerous board, thought for over a minute before making the call. Binger flipped over (AA5) and took down the pot, doubling up to 20,000. Unfortunately for Binger, he would be eliminated before the end of the level.
Razz
Jurgens on the Move
Tad Jurgens: 2973
Opponent: 27A5
The action on this hand is quite simple to relate. On 4th, 5th, and 6th streets Tad Jurgen called a bet from his opponent. On 7th street the other player bet again but this time Jurgens tossed in a raise. His opponent called and was not at all pleased to see Jurgens turn over (A64) for the second-nut low. The hand brings Jurgens up to 52,000.

Big Hands and Storylines:
So Much For Flopping Well
Ayaz Mahmoud raised pre-flop from middle position and was called by Alon Croitoru in the big blind. Croitoru check-called both the AJT flop and the A turn. The river J double-paired the board and Croituro led out for 2,000. Mahmoud angrily paused his iPod, tore off his headphones, and folded K-Q face-up. Croituro showed A-6 to his opponent and Mahmoud only replied, “I know.” Mahmoud still has 40,000 and Croitoru is now up to 27,000.
Chop It Up
In the small blind, Matt Matros called a late-position raise and the flop came down AT3. Matros check-raised the flop and his opponent called. Matros led out at the A turn and was again called. The Q river went check-check and the two flipped over their cards:
Matros: T9
Opponent: JT
The queen counterfeited the other player’s kicker and Matros was able to take half the pot. The chop was particularly important to Matros, who only has about 17,000 left.
Everything’s Coming Up Rosen
Douglas Rosen raised from the button and was called by the big blind. On a K65 flop, the big blind checked, Rosen bet, and the blind check-raised. Rosen called and both players checked the 4 turn. When the river card came the 5, the big blind bet and Rosen made the call. The big blind showed 77cd but conceded the pot when Rosen turned over TTcd. Rosen now has 33,000.

Von Halle On a Roll
Jun 09, '07
Action started to pick back up again once we hit the money, losing ten more players this round. Tad Jurgens was eliminated in 36th place followed by Lex “RaSZI” Veldhuis in 35th and Kirill Gerasimov in 33rd place. WPT Mandalay Bay Poker Championship winner, Shawn Buchanan was eliminated in 30th place when his jacks were cracked by a set of tens. The player in seat 1 raised the pot to $18,000 when Shawn Buchanan re-raises $42,000 more. Seat-1 re-raises all-in and Buchanan makes the call (Seat-1 has Buchanan covered). Seat-1 turns over 1010 while Buchanan shows JJ for the lead. The board comes 10436Q, flopping a set of tens to crack Buchanan’s jacks and eliminating him in 30th place.
Event 1 gold bracelet winner, Steve Billirakis made a good run at the money, finishing in 29th place, but it was Jan Von Halle that was the talk of Level 14. Alexander Kravchenko raised the pot $21,000 and Jan Von Halle re-raised to $45,000. The player in seat 7 re-raises to $125,000 and all-in . Kravchenko calls all-in for $86,000 and Von Halle too makes the call but has them covered. Seat-7 flips over AK while Kravchenko shows QQ and Von Halle shows AA. The board comes 87434, no help to any player as Von Halle’s aces hold up and he eliminates two players in one hand.
25 players now remain as we take a fifteen minute break until we return for a half hour of play before breaking again for dinner at 7:30pm. The dinner break will last ninety minutes and play will resume at 9:00pm.
