Darus Suharto was born in Indonesia, but currently resides in Toronto, Canada. After earning an MBA from Indiana University, Suharto went to work as an accountant.
Suharto won his 2008 World Series of Poker main event seat through a small buy-in satellite. He made the final table and became one of the famous November Nine. He placed sixth for more than $2.4 million.
Previous to this, Suharto's only major tournament cash came in the 2006 WSOP main event. He finished in 448th place for more than $26,000.
