Blinds Limit Games: 800-1,500; 1,500-3,000 Stakes Players Remaining: 112 out of 116 Notable Chip Counts: Hasan Habib – 200,000 Eliminations: Tom Dwan Pot Limit Omaha Dwan Gets Short, Busts Daniel Negreanu, Tom Dwan and Shawn Buchanan checked a flop of A 94. After the J fell on the turn Negreanu bet 5,000 and both Dwan and Buchanan called. The 10 hit on the river and Negreanu and Buchanan checked to Dwan who bet 11,200. Negreanu folded but Buchanan called Dwan down and showed QJ109 for two pair. Dwan said, “Ace” implying he had a pair, and mucked. Shortly after, Dwan busted out of the tournament. No Limit Hold’em Seiver doubles through Dario After several significant preflop raises, Scott Seiver managed to get his 75,100 all in against Dario Minieri. With a board of 642 Seiver showed A6 to Dario’s AK, and the board finished with 38 to give Seiver a flush and double him up back over the day’s starting count of 150,000. Floor Ruling Costs Deeb A Little More Steve Zolotow raised to 2,100 from under the gun and Ralph Perry called behind him. Action folded around to Freddy Deeb who reraised to 12,100. Tim Phan made the call from the button and Zolotow and Perry mucked. The flop came down A104 and Deeb fired 13,000. Phan made the call and the turn was the 5. Deeb threw out a 5,000 chip and announced, “Fifteen.” While it was likely Deeb meant 15,000, Zolotow pointed out that the bet was more likely 1,500 since the chip was valued lower than 15,000. The floor was called over and ruled that the bet was 15,000. Phan made the call regardless and both players checked the 7 on the river. “Nines,” Deeb told Phan, never turning over his hand. Phan then turned over AQ when Deeb confirmed he did not have a club. Phan took down the pot with top pair and Deeb was down under 100,000. Phan improved to around 200,000. Arieh Takes Big Pot Off Phan On the very next hand at the table, Tim Phan raised to 6,500 after seat 7 made 2,100 to go. Josh Arieh then repopped it to 16,800 from the button. Seat 7 mucked but Phan made the call. The flop came down 553 and Phan checked. Arieh bet 25,000 and Phan called. The turn was the 4 and both players checked. They did the same on the 8 river and Arieh tabled 99. Phan mucked and was around 175,000 after the hand. Arieh took down the pot and was at 215,000. Binger getting into opponent’s heads Michael Binger is making his table think. First, he brought the topic of time travel into the table’s conversation. If you could time travel 20 years backward for forward, where would it be? Jeff Lisandro answered, "Who cares? As long as you know the Kentucky Derby winners. Doyle Brunson mirrored that response with, “And Super Bowl winners.” It’s all making the money, Lisandro concluded. The following hand, Binger bet 2500 on a flop of 882 and Nick Schulman folded. Limit Hold’em Binger High Fives Schulman On a board showing 75410, Michael Binger bet 3,000 into the pot and Nick Schulman made the call. The river brought the J and Binger fired another bet of 3,000. Schulman made the call once more and Binger turned over 55 for a flopped set. Schulman mucked and was down to 182,000. Binger improved his stack to 123,000. Omaha/8 Habib Bests Schulman On a flop of J97, Nick Schulman led out with 1,500 from the big blind. Hasan Habib made the call from the hijack and the 4 fell on the turn. Schulman led out again, this time for 3,000. Habib then raised it to 6,000 and Schulman made the call. The river was the 8 and Schulman checked to Habib who fired 3,000. Schulman called and Habib tabled A5103 for the nut flush and a 8-7-4-3 low. Schulman mucked and was down to around 135,000. Habib took the pot and was around 200,000. Ivey, Benyamine clash in a friendly game of poker The most entertaining table in event 2 has to be the one containing Scotty Nguyen and Chau Giang. Giang has been especially energetic, while sharing stories to keep the table smiling. During these story times there has also been some poker. On the other side of the table Phil Ivey check-called David Benyamine all the way down on a board of J74Q4. Benyamine showed AA510, prompting Ivey to say “very nice,” and muck. Lisandro Bets Out Doyle After a flop of J67, Jeffrey Lisandro bet 1,500 and Doyle Brunson made the call. Bill Chen folded his hand and the turn was the 2. Lisandro fired another bet, this one 3,000. Brunson tagged along and the two players saw the 5 fall on the river. Lisandro bet 3,000 again and Brunson had enough as he mucked his hand. Lisandro took the pot and was around 142,000 while Brunson was at 145,000. The action was then on Brian Hastings in the cutoff and he raised it to 19,300. Mizrachi made the call and the river brought the 10. Mizrachi checked to Hastings who fired 45,000. Mizrachi took a massive session in the tank before finally releasing his hand. Hastings took the pot and was around 200,000. Mizrachi was down to 85,000. Oppenheim’s reraises build, take big pot Seat one raised preflop to 1500 and David Oppenheim reraised to 4400. Seat one called and the flop came J64. Seat one led out with a bet of 6600 and Oppenheim called. Mizzi Sings The Blues, Sung Calls Bluff On a board showing K1067, Sorel Mizzi bet 2,600 from the big blind. Steve Sung made the call from the cutoff and Scott Clements and Jason Mercier mucked. The river was the 4 and Mizzi fired one more barrel, this one 5,500. Sung made the call and Mizzi lightly tapped the table. “You got me,” he said to Sung. Sung showed A10 and took the pot, improving his stack to 173,000. Mizzi was down to 144,000. Hasan Habib trips up Chen On a board of KJ887, Hasan Habib bets 10,500 and Bill Chen quickly calls. Habib shows A8 for trips and Chen mucked. Limit HE Chopped Up On a board showing 962, Dario Minieri bet 1,200 and Greg Raymer made the call. The turn brought the J and both players checked. The J fell on the river and Minieri took a stab at the pot with a 2,400 bet. Raymer quickly called and Minieri showed AK. “You will get half,” Raymer said. He tabled AK and the players split the pot. Raymer was at 140,000 after the hand while Minieri was at 145,000. Kelly Straightens Out Super Dario Dan Kelly raised to 2,400 preflop from the button. Dario Minieri raised to 3,600 from the small blind and Kelly made the call. The flop came down J105 and Minieri led out with 1,200. Kelly raised to 2,400 and Minieri fired one more barrel to 3,600. Kelly called and the Q fell on the turn. Minieri slowed down, checking to Kelly who bet 2,400. Minieri called and Kelly showed down A10 for a Broadway straight. Minieri mucked and was down to 132,000 while Kelly improved to 190,000. Williamson’s Queens Stay True In a limped pot Todd Brunson was heads up against Robert Williamson III heading into a flop of 934. Brunson checked and Williamson bet 1200. Brunson called and both players checked the A on the turn. When the 9 landed on the river Brunson bet out 2400. Williamson looked confused but elected to make the call. Brunson flipped up the 4 for nines and fours, leaving his other card hidden. A surprised Williamson said, “Oh! I can beat that!” and flipped over QQ for a better two pair and the win. Omaha 8OB Elezra Forces Out The Mouth Ted Forrest entered a pot along with Mike Matusow, Alexander Kostritsyn and Eli Elezra. On a flop of 1022 Matusow bet 1200 and Elezra raised him to 2400. All other players folded and Matusow called the raise. The K hit on the turn and Matusow checked to Elezra who bet out 2400, forcing Matusow to fold. Lunkin’s stack takes a hit Robert Mizrachi raised to 2,400 preflop and Vitaly Lunkin made the call. The flop fell J99 and Mizrachi led out with 1,200. Lunkin raised to 2,400 and Mizrachi instantly repopped it to 3,600. Lunkin tanked for a few moments and then let his hand slide into the muck. Mizrachi took down the pot and was hovering around 100,000. Lunkin fell to 153,000. Harman Blows Past Boeken On a board of J628, Jennifer Harman bet 2400 and was called by Noah Boeken. The 5 s fell on the river and Boeken quickly checked to Harman who bet out 2400 again. Boeken took his time and folded, giving Harman the pot. Her stack sits healthy, while Boeken’s is dwindling. Seven Card Stud See Chen Win Negreanu’s two pair takes it John Monnette bet every street heads up against Daniel Negreanu. The cards fell as follows: Matusow Falling Mike Matusow and fellow Full Tilt pro Erick Lindgren were paired up in a large pot. Lindgren fired away on each street, finally forcing Matusow to fold the (X-X)(X)K287. Lindgren mucked his (X-X)(X)J29Q and raked in the pot. Matusow is down to 79,500. Pot-limit Omaha Zolotow Wins On a board of J102, Steve Zolotow checked and Ralph Perry bet 8,000. Zolotow went into the tank and finally made the call. The Q fell on the river and Zolotow checked once again. Perry bet 18,000 this time and Zolotow deliberated for awhile before making the call. Perry didn’t expose his hand and Zolotow tabled the A898 for the nut flush. Perry mucked and Zolotow grew his stack to 160,000 while Perry is down to under 100,000. Antonio Esfandiari — 265,000 Average Chip Count: 83,000 Notable Eliminations: Jennifer Tilly Big Hands: ElkY Gets Lucky On Alan Sass We didn’t catch the action up until the turn, when Alan Sass found himself all in against Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier on a board reading Q1029. Sass showed pocket aces and Grospellier was in bad shape with pocket kings. The river was the J, however, and Grospellier made a king-high straight to take a huge pot, eliminate Sass and chip up to 128,000. Hafiz Khan Eliminated Hafiz Khan lost most of his stack to David Paredes when his A-K failed to catch up against pocket kings and was left with just a couple thousand in chips. Then in the small blind, Khan woke up with A-Q only to have the big blind look him up with J-10. The flop came down J-10-4 and Khan never caught up, packing up his things and hitting the rail halfway through level six. Tough Luck For Justin Bonomo Sends Him Out On a flop of 632, Justin Bonomo was all in and looking good with pocket kings against the 76 of David Woo. The turn and river fell 7J and Woo’s two pair eliminated Bonomo from the tournament. Ralph Perry Gets Richer From Sam Farha Ralph Perry raised to 3,000 and was called by Erik Nomberg on the button and Sam Farha in the big blind. The flop came down A73 and Farha checked to Perry, who bet 6,500. Nomberg folded and Farha called. The turn was the Q and Farha checked once again. This time, Perry bet 16,000 and Farha called. The river was the 5 and Farha checked. Perry bet 20,000, leaving himself with just 10,725 behind. Farha thought it over for about a minute, explaining he would have folded if it were not for the turn card. Eventually, he flashed the A, implying he picked up a flush draw with his top pair and mucked his hand. Perry now has about 85,000 in chips. Giang made the call. The turn was the J and Giang checked again. Negreanu hardly flinched when Giang fired 6,000 into the pot to call a bet that never came. “What are you doing?” Negreanu asked. What are you calling? I haven’t bet anything." “I’m sorry,” Giang said. “I’m getting a good massage.” Giang took his chips back and Negreanu checked. “She might have saved me 6,000,” he said. “I don’t think I have much of a chance in this hand.” Giang then fired those same chips into the middle. “I bet dark,” Giang said. Negreanu instantly mucked and the hand was over before the 2 could hit the felt. “It’s so enjoyable,” Giang said about his massage. “I throw the bet in before I have to.” He took in the pot and Giang was at 150,000 while Negreanu was at 240,000. Stud High Brett Richey Doubles Up Picking up the action on fifth street, Nikolay Evdakov and Brett Richey were involved in a hand. Richey: X-X-108J Evdakov started the betting with 6,000 and by the time everything was said and done, Richey was all in for 16,000. He turned over (J7) while Evdakov showed (76). Richey was ahead and his board completed with Q(9). Evdakov failed to improve and Richey doubled to just over 30,000. Stud/8 What Game Is It Again? Picking up the action on fourth street, Huck Seed and Andy Bloch were involved in a hand. Seed: X-X-3J Both players checked. Seed: X-X-3J4 Both players checked again. Seed: X-X-3J44 Both players checked once again. Huck Seed then asked, “What game is this, stud eight?” The river was dealt and Seed finally bet 6,000. Bloch made the call and then turned over (101010) for a set. “I forgot what game this was,” Bloch said. Seed laughed as he turned over the losing (24Ax) for a lower set. Bloch scooped the pot and was at 165,000 while Seed was at 275,000. Bach Takes Nice Pot Off Lunkin Picking up the action on fourth street, David Bach and Vitaly Lunkin were involved in a pot. Bach: X-X-A2A3 Bach bet again, despite getting raised on the previous street. Lunkin took the foot off the gas as he just called. On the river, both players checked and Bach showed (6710) for a pair of aces and a 7-low. Lunkin showed (778) for only an 8-low and Bach scooped the pot, improving to 420,000. Giang made the call. The turn was the J and Giang checked again. Negreanu hardly flinched when Giang fired 6,000 into the pot to call a bet that never came. “What are you doing?” Negreanu asked. What are you calling? I haven’t bet anything." “I’m sorry,” Giang said. “I’m getting a good massage.” Giang took his chips back and Negreanu checked. “She might have saved me 6,000,” he said. “I don’t think I have much of a chance in this hand.” Giang then fired those same chips into the middle. “I bet dark,” Giang said. Negreanu instantly mucked and the hand was over before the 2 could hit the felt. “It’s so enjoyable,” Giang said about his massage. “I throw the bet in before I have to.” He took in the pot and Giang was at 150,000 while Negreanu was at 240,000. Party Like It’s 99 Matt Hawrilenko raised to 6,000 preflop from middle position and action folded to Jon Turner in the small blind. He three-bet to 9,000 and Hawrilenko called. The flop came down J75 and Turner bet 3,000. Hawrilenko made the call. The turn was the 10 and Turner bet 6,000. Hawrilenko made the call and the river was the Q. Both players decided to check and Turner showed down 99. Hawrilenko mucked and Turner took the pot. Turner was at 153,000. Omaha/8 Full Boat Good For Chainsaw David Grey raised to 6,000 and Allen Kessler called from the small blind. Erik Seidel folded his big blind and the flop came down 988. Grey bet 3,000 and Kessler made the call. The turn was the 8 and Grey bet 6,000. Kessler made the call and the river was the A. Nguyen: X-X-66 Chiu checked despite Nguyen showing a pair on the board. Nguyen checked as well. Nguyen: X-X-668 Nguyen reached for chips and bet 6,000. Chiu turned over his hole cards, (5-2), and mucked them. Nguyen took the pot and was at 195,000. Stud High Brett Richey Doubles Up Picking up the action on fifth street, Nikolay Evdakov and Brett Richey were involved in a hand. Richey: X-X-108J Evdakov started the betting with 6,000 and by the time everything was said and done, Richey was all in for 16,000. He turned over (J7) while Evdakov showed (76). Richey was ahead and his board completed with Q(9). Evdakov failed to improve and Richey doubled to just over 30,000. Stud/8 What Game Is It Again? Picking up the action on fourth street, Huck Seed and Andy Bloch were involved in a hand. Seed: X-X-3J Both players checked. Seed: X-X-3J4 Both players checked again. Seed: X-X-3J44 Both players checked once again. Huck Seed then asked, “What game is this, stud eight?” The river was dealt and Seed finally bet 6,000. Cliff Josephy – 166,000 Average Chip Count: 50,417 Notable Eliminations: Ted Lawson Big Hands: Black Muscled Off Hand, Loses Half Of His Chips In a three way pot totaling 6,000 Andrew Black and his two opponents saw a flop of KK3. The player in seat 1 led out with 6,000 and Black raised to 18,000 total. Seat 4 mucked and the action was back on seat 1. He then reached for two stacks and raised 30,000 more. Black went in the tank for a bit and eventually decided to cut his losses and muck his hand. He was down to just 14,000. He would later lose the rest of those chips and make his exit from the tournament. Big Names, Small Pot Robert Williamson III, Hoyt Corkins and Nikolay Evdakov each called 1,000 preflop. The flop then came down J97 and everyone checked. The turn brought the 2 and Williamson decided to lead out, firing 2,500 into the 4,000 pot. Evdakov mucked and Corkins followed suit. Perry Wins As Clock Is Called On Opponent After a flop of AQ9 hit the felt, the player in seat 6 fired 10,500 into the pot. All other players in the hand folded except for Ralph Perry. After a few minutes of thought, he raised to 35,000 total. The action was back on his opponent and he took a massive tank session. After more the six minutes, the clock was finally called and he had one minute to decide what to do with his holding. Not long after the clock was called, he released his hand and Perry took the pot, improving to 90,000. Ride With The Devil On a flop of Q72, David Ulliott moved all in and was called by Jesper Hougaard. Hougaard: AQ87 Ulliott was trailing Hougaard’s two pair but the 5 on the turn gave him a flush and the 3 on the river offered no help to Hougaard. Ulliott was at 110,000 after the double while Hougaard was at 88,000. After taking a flop of Q810, Sorel Mizzi led out for 30,000. After a fold, Jesper Hougaard raised to 100,000. After a few moments, Mizzi raised all in and Hougaard made the call. The cards were turned up and Hougaard showed the 9 10 J Q, good for top two pair and the nut straight, while Mizzi showed the Q89A, good for top and bottom two pair and the nut flush draw. The turn card was the A and Mizzi picked up a few extra outs, but the J on the river made Mizzi’s flush and gave him the pot. This pot put Mizzi well over the 500,000 mark. Watson Folds to Palevic’s River Bet After a short stacked player in early position raised to 25,000, Rifat Palevic called, and then Mike Watson min-raised to 42,000. Both players called and they took the flop three-handed. The flop was A39 and both players checked to Watson, who bet 52,000. The short stacked player folded and Palevic called. The 7 was the turn card and both players checked. The 3 was the river card and Palevic then wanted to know how much Watson had left. After getting an answer, he thought for a few moments before just tossing in a pile of chips that was approximately 60,000 and Watson folded as soon as the chips hit the felt.
