Jonathan Tamayo Rivers a SetNov 12, '21 A player under the gun raised to 3,500 and Jonathan Tamayo was the only caller out of the big blind. The flop was Q75 and Tamayo check-called 4,500. The turn was the 8 and Tamayo check-called again, this time 9,500. The river was the J and Tamayo checked for the third time. His opponent bet 22,000, which left him with just a single 500-denomination chip behind. Tamayo called. Under the gun showed A6 and Tamayo tabled JJ to take the pot with a set of jacks and nearly eliminate his opponent. Jonathan Tamayo – 185,000 Player Tags: Jonathan Tamayo Jonathan Tamayo Gets Unlucky ChopNov 12, '21 The cutoff raised to 1,300 and Jonathan Tamayo three-bet to 4,000 from the button. The flop fell 543 and the cutoff checked. Tamayo continued with a bet of 5,000, and his opponent made the call. The turn was the 5, and the cutoff checked once again. This time, Tamayo eyed his stack and bet enough to put the cutoff all-in. The cutoff had about 28,000 behind, and he didn’t waste too much time calling with pocket sevens. Tamayo held 76, however, for a flopped straight. The cutoff needed a lot of help, and he received it when the 6 hit the river, giving both players a straight. Tamayo took the suck out in stride, and still sits on 145,000. The Texas poker player finished fifth in a Venetian DeepStack event back in June, earning $107,694. Player Tags: Jonathan Tamayo |

The next player to act checked as well. It was on Josh Brikis next and he bet 45,000. William Thorson check-raised to 125,000 and it was folded to Brikis. Brikis called and the A fell on the river. Thorson bet 300,000 and Brikis thought about it briefly before calling. Thorson exposed the A9 for the nuts and Brikis mucked. Thorson was at about 1,800,000 after the hand. Jamin Stokes Eliminated Jamin Stokes moved all in on the button for 44,000 with the A5 and was called by a player in the blind. His opponent tabled the QJ. The board ran out Q6422 and Stokes was gone. Robert Mizrachi Doubles Up a Player A player moved all in for 139,000 into Robert Mizrachi. Rice Isn’t Happy with Eskander Shawn Rice raised to 25,000 and Pkejmanpatric Eskander called from the small blind. The flop came K85 and Eskander checked over to Rice, who bet 35,000. Eskander made the call and they go to the turn. The turn was the J and both players checked. The river was the Q and both players checked again. Rice turned over 99 and Eskander rolled over the AJ, giving him a pair of jacks. “You called me with ace-jack. You did the right thing.” said Rice sarcastically. “It was suited,” replied Eskander. Affleck Just Keeps Winning The board read K64Q and it was heads-up between Hugo Franca and Matt Affleck. Franca had check-raised Affleck on the flop and Affleck made the call. Franca checked to Affleck on the turn and Affleck bet 100,000. Franca check-raised again, making it 260,000. Affleck made the call and they saw the J fall on the river. Franca tanked for a while before going all-in for 486,000. After several minutes, Affleck made the call. Franca mucked his hand immediately and Affleck showed AK, for top pair top kicker. Affleck is now over the 3 million chip mark. Jonathan Tamayo Eliminated Jonathan Tamayo made a deep run in last year’s main event, but won’t be making a repeat performance when he moved all-in from middle position for 110,000 and Paul Varano called from the big blind. One Less Russian in the Main Event Dragan Galic was all-in before the flop and was called by Vitaly Lunkin, who had him covered by just one yellow, 1,000 chip. Galic showed AK and Lunkin showed 1010. The flop was A8J and Galic was out in the lead. The turn was the A and the river was the 2, giving Galic the winner to double up to 680,000. Lunkin was all-in for just the ante on the very next hand and was eliminated. Jason Dewitt Doubles Up a Player On a previous hand Jason Dewitt had six-bet all in versus the player directly to his left. A couples hands later Dewitt four-bet shoved with pocket eights against the same player. This time he was called. Dewitt’s opponent exposed the AQ and the players were flipping. The flop and turn were safe but an ace on the river sent Dewitt down to 340,000. Josh Brikis Falling On a board of KJ846, Josh Brikis checked from under the gun. His opponent in late position bet 117,000 and Brikis went into the tank. He eventually called and his opponent tabled pocket queens with no club. Brikis mucked and was under a million after the hand. Big Slick Gets Clements Some Chips Andre Coimbra moved all-in preflop and found some bad news when he was called by Scott Clements. Clements held AK and dominated Coimbra’s A10. Frank Gary WIns Event No. 41 ($219,217) A short-stacked Jonathan Tamayo pushed all in for his last 175,000 preflop and Frank Gary took his time making his decision. He eventually called and saw that his A3 was ahead of Tamayo's Q7. The board ran A6482 and after three days of play, Frank Gary was named the champion of event no. 41, $1,500 Mixed Hold'em.After a great effort, Tamayo came up just short of the ultimate prize, finishing in second place for $140,093. Limit Hold'em: Tamayo's Flopped Nut Straight Gets Rivered By Gary's Boat Gary won some big pots in the limit hold'em to gain a decisive chip advantage over Tamayo. This was perhaps the biggest hand: Tamayo bet every street on a board of QJ1010 and was called by Gary. But when Tamayo bet the 9 river card, Gary raised him and Tomayo made the call flipping over A-K for the flopped broadway straight. However, Gary had raised because he held 9-9 and rivered a full house. The hand crippled Tamayo and he was eliminated not long after.

Final Table SetJun 21, '07 With the elimination of Chad Brown in 11th place ($10,212), the remaining ten players converged on one table to play down to the final table. It nearly two hours to lose the next play, with mostly small to medium size pots taking place between comfortably large stacks. Vivek Rajkumar had a vociferous rail who would drunkenly yell "ship it" whenever he took down a hand. Rajkumar took down a pot that had three players put in four bets, but David Pham capped the betting and only Rajkumar called. The flop brought the A 9 6, Pham led out, and Rajkumar raised to $20,000. Pham went into the tank for three minutes and eventually folded. Rajkumar's rail took to calling him "the dragon-slayer," despite the fact that Pham still has a very solid stack and very likely the most experience at a final table of this caliber. The final elimination of the night came down when Jonathan Tamayo got all-in preflop against Pham with 10 10 against Pham's K K. The board came down Q 9 3 7 J and the final table was decided. Tamayo took home $10,212 for his tenth place finish. The chip leader at the end of the day was Alex Borteh, with $389,000 in chips. The final table seating assignments are as follows: 1.Vivek Rajkumar 2.Petri Pollenan 3.David Pham 4.Marco Johnson 5.Matthew Kelly 6.Shawn Keller 7.Brandon Wong 8.Alex Borteh 9.Michael Byrne With $225,483 and a gold bracelet on the line, the final table is sure to be exciting.
