Hand of the Level:
Jeff Kimber gets a Little Flushed
Jeff Kimber raises to 600 from early position and two players call. One player in late position then makes it 2,450 and Kimber pumps it up to 9,000. He scares everyone away and takes the pot down.
Keeping up the pressure, he raises to 600 in the very next hand and gets four callers including the blinds. The flop is 7-4-5 with one heart and Kimber bets 1,800. J.P. Kelly calls and the turn is the J. Kimber bets 1,875. Kelly raises it to 4,500 and Kimber makes the call.
The K falls on the river and Kimber checks. Kelly bets 5,500 and Kimber calls. Kelly says, “Flush” and Kimber mucks. Kelly shows 7 4 and Kimber says he had pocket fives as he looks on in disappointment. Kelly’s on 45,000 now whereas Kimber’s down to 16,500.

Check-Raise Trickery?
With 1,500 in the pot and a flop showing 7 7 3 Danny Ryan bet 600 from middle position and Bruno Fitoussi made the call. The turn was the K and both players checked. The river came the 5 and Ryan bet 1,400.
Fitoussi said, “Were you check-raising the turn?” To no response, he makes the call and mucks when he sees Ryan table K Q. Ryan is short but moves up a little to 22,800.
Katchalov in Good Form
Eugene Katchalov in middle position bets 5,600 and the button calls. Katchalov then asks his opponent how much he has left. The answer is mumbled but a quick count shows just under 29,000. The flop comes A 9 4 and Katchalov bets 2,300. The button calls and the turn is the K. Katchalov checks and the button takes a while to make his decision, electing to check when he does.
The river is the K and Katchalov bets 4,700. The button tanks once again and then calls. Katchalov shows A 7 and the button mucks. The EPT High Roller finalist is now on just under 60,000.
Akenhead Gives Opponent Ache-in-Head
With 21,500 in the pot and a board showing K 8 6 Q J, the player in hijack position moves all in for 17,400 and James Akenhead tanks in the cutoff. He agonizes over it for three or four minutes and then makes the call.
The young German player who wishes to remain nameless shows 7 6 and Akenhead shows J J to take the pot down. “Nice call,” is mumbled and the player hits the rail.
Jonathan Aguiar is out, meaning the book he was reading – Mike Matusow’s Check Raising The Devil must have not been much use to him today.
