Newey Takes Some From LevyJul 13, '13 The board read Q98J3 when Grant Levy checked to Paul Newey. There was already a lot in the pot and Newey casually flicked out a blue 5,000 chip. Player Tags: Grant Levy Pateychuk, Cheong, Bonyadi, Salsberg and Levy Sit DownJul 13, '13 The field keeps increasing steadily as we are now up to 70 players registered. Four more big names have set down and they might’ve doubled the total earnings of the the rest of the field with their list of huge scores. Joseph Cheong on his own accounts for $8.6 in winnings, $4.1 of which came in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event. Cheong finished third in that event behind John Racener and winner Jonathan Duhamel. This year has been quite spectacular as well for Cheong as he’s managed to win the Manilla Millions for $1.3 million, he finished second in both the $100k Super High Roller WPT for $614,250 and the $50k High Roller at the WSOP APAC for A$511,000. The other players that accounts for a ton of live tournament winnings is Russian pro Andrey Pateychuk. Pateychuk had an amazing year in 2011 when he won EPT San Remo for €680,000, WPT Prague for €450,000 and he added a 15th place finish in the WSOP Main Event for close to $500,000. Currently Pateychuk is 8th on the Russian all-time money list with $2.2 million in live tournament earnings. Farzad Bonyadi had quite the eventful week in Las Vegas as he finish on the stone bubble in the WSOP Main Event. Bonyadi received a seat into next year’s Main Event and rushed over to the Bellagio to play the $10,000 Bellagio Cup. The three-time WSOP bracelet winner finished 17th in that event while 15 places would get paid. The Venetian Deep Stack Main Event could be Bonyadi’s ultimate revenge, but of course that’s a bit preemptive as we’re in the second level of the day. The WPT Season 11 Player of the Year Matt Salsberg has also sat down sat down. Salsberg won WPT Paris for €380,000 and at the beginning of the year he added another WPT final table to his resume at the Borgata Winter Open. Finally we’ve also spotted Grant Levy who’s made it here all the way from Down Under. Levy won a PCA side event at the beginning of this year and finished 8th in the EPT Grand Final. Levy’s biggest results came in his home country where he won ANZPT Perth for A$131,500 and APPT Sydney for A$1,000,000.
