Duey Duong has taken a seat here on day 1B of the 2019 Card Player Poker Tour Bicycle Hotel & Casino $500,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em main event.

Duong has put together an incredible resume in this event: he finished third in this tournament back in 2015 for $50,000 and then placed fifth in the 2017 running for another $31,075. He then went on to earn $97,000 as the runner-up in 2018, finishing second to champion Steve Jun.

Duong earned the largest payday of his career this summer at the World Series of Poker with a 19th-place showing in the main event for $324,650.

Duong moved all-in for 5,525,000, and Jun snap called. The board fell J82Q2 and Jun collected the final pot of the tournament.

Duong earned $97,000 for finishing runner-up, while Jun takes home the title, the trophy, and a first-place prize worth a little under $150,000. He will also appear on an upcoming cover of Card Player magazine.

After losing a good chunk of his stack to Steve Jun when his pocket tens were cracked by A-4 suited, Brandon Zuidema was left as the tournament’s short stack and looking for a double up.

Duey Duong raised to 325,000 and Zuidema responded with an all-in shove for 2,065,000. Duong called with AQ, and was ahead of KJ.

The board gave both players a piece with QJ5610, but Zuidema didn’t catch enough to stay in the tournament. He takes home $52,080 for third place.

Duong will now take 5,945,000 into heads-up play with Steve Jun, who has about 14,000,000.

The dealer fanned QJA on the felt and Nguyen checked. Duong continued out for 200,000, sending Nguyen into the tank. After roughly two minutes, Nguyen came over the top for 525,000 total. Duong responded by three-betting the action to 1,235,000. This put Nguyen back in the tank, and after several more minutes he stood from the table. Another moment passed before he moved all in for 1,625,000 total. Duong instantly called and the hands were turned up.

The flop came down 762 and both Duey Duong and Lily Kiletto checked. Dardon bet 275,000 and Duong folded.

Kiletto cut out a raise to 600,000 and slid it forward.

“This could be the one,” said Dardon in response. After some thought he made it 1.2 million to go.

Kiletto went deep into the tank, chatting with Dardon to try to get some information. After a few minutes she decided to fold and Dardon raked in the pot.

Xuan Nguyen Eliminated in 7th Place ($17,605)

Duey Duong raised to 180,000 from early position and action folded around to Xuan Nguyen in the big blind. He called to see a flop.

The dealer fanned QJA on the felt and Nguyen checked. Duong continued out for 200,000, sending Nguyen into the tank. After roughly two minutes, Nguyen came over the top for 525,000 total. Duong responded by three-betting the action to 1,235,000. This put Nguyen back in the tank, and after several more minutes he stood from the table. Another moment passed before he moved all in for 1,625,000 total. Duong instantly called and the hands were turned up.

Duong led with an ace-high straight while Nguyen was left looking to turn his two pair into a full house on the turn or the river. Worst Royal Flush Ever

Duey Duong just made a royal flush he didn’t want.

The board read A Q 3 K J and Duong held the A 10.

The problem was that there was only about 25,000 in the pot. Ross Fernandez, Duong’s opponent, couldn’t pay off a big river bet with his K Q for a turned two pair.

Although making a royal flush is always an entertaining experience, Duong would have earned a lot more chips if he didn’t hit it on the river. Instead, the royal bails out Fernandez and Duong chips up to 310,000.

For the record, Duong told us it was the third royal flush of his career.

Duey Duong Busts Turbo Nguyen

It was a tough level for Turbo Nguyen, first losing his girlfriend Lynda Tran from the field and then busting shortly before the break.

Nguyen got the rest of his chips in with a flush draw against the bottom two pair of Duey Duong. The two pair held and Nguyen was eliminated. Duong is now one of the biggest stacks in the room with over 300,000.

Duey Duong Eliminated By Thomas Beckstead

In a blind-on-blind battle, Thomas Beckstead raised to 20,000 from the small blind and Duey Duong moved all-in from the big blind.

Beckstead quickly called with the AQ, which was well ahead of Suong’s A3.

The board ran out Q104AQ, giving Beckstead the full house and sending Duong to the rail in 25th place, earning $2,500. All remaining players are now guaranteed at least a $2,850 payday.
