Players on Dinner BreakJul 09, '07 Official NumbersThe tournament details have just been announced. 6,358 players entered this year's main event, creating a $59,784,954 prize pool. This tournament will pay 621 places, with 621st place taking home $20,320 and 1st place place pocketing $8,250,000. The full prize pool will be updated shortly. Jon "PearlJammer" Turner Doubles Up On a board of A 9 6 2, Jon Turner gets his last $13,875 in the pot against the player in seat No. 5. Turner shows 6 6 and his opponent shows A 5 and is drawing dead. The meaningless river is the 7 and Turner doubles up to $40,500. Karen Thomas is Back Karen Thomas, known this series for coming from behind and showing her behind, tripled up during the last level. All in against pocket Kings and pocket Queens, Thomas hit trip Aces with A-5, more than tripling her up. The small blind in the hand would've hit nines full, but he folded to all the preflop action. Thomas neglected to flash anybody after winning the pot, but she did show off her trademarked mini-celebration as she gathered the pot. Thomas has spent most of the series entertaining the crowd with her all-in celebrations, much to the enjoyment of her tablemates and tournament directors. Hellmuth Gone Phil Hellmuth was eliminated during the last level. It is still unknown whether he will drive home or not. Either way, we're sure he could use the recovery time. Pizzolatto is Outto Nath Pizzolatto pushed all in on a flop of K 10 5 with 10 8. His opponent made the call with A K and Pizzolatto needed some help to stay in the tournament. The board finished out with Q Q eliminating Pizzolatto early on in the hour. Dario Minieri Tilting Chips Away Despite once being over the $105,000 chip mark, Dario Minieri has been rapidly losing most of his stack. After getting an opponent all in with Aces vs. Kings, his opponent spiked a King to double through and rattle Minieri. Minieri proceeded to raise 6 of the next 11 hands and lose most of them, bleeding off most of his still healthy stack. We would also like to point out Minieri's Harry Potter scarf. Lucko, Not Sucko Kevin "Lucko21" O'Brien (+1) has been slowly amassing a big stack in the far corner of the Amazon room. He is sitting with online pro Johnathan Westra, but has still managed to crack the $80,000 chip mark. Negreanu's Baby Flush The player in seat 3 raised to $1,200 and Daniel Negreanu defended from the big blind. The flop came A Q 4, Negreanu checked, Seat 3 bet $1,800, Negreanu raised to $6,800, and Seat 3 folded. Negreanu flashed his two baby clubs as he mucked, and jokingly asked, "Flush good there?" Pokerstars player Negreanu enters the dinner break with about $27,000 in chips. This Space For Rent The new policy on logos has allowed for many players to deck themselves out like racecar drivers; Phil Hellmuth was the most notable of today, taking that idea literally. Brett Jungblut has a creative joke in line with these philosophies. Jungblut has a shirt that reads, This Space For Rent. It might be funnier if he included his contact information on the back of the shirt for potential ad suitors. The players are currently on dinner break until 8:30 Notable Chip Counts

Back From Dinner; Madsen FilledJun 25, '07 Thomas Wahlroos was eliminated shortly after the dinner break ended. he found himself all-in with A-K-J-8 versus K-K-4-3 and A-J-5-2. The board came out 8-6-6-3-10, and his two opponents split up his remaining chips.Jeff Madsen lost a signicant chunk his chip stack in the following pot. K J 3 A 3 was on the board and Madsen was facing a $5,000 dollar bet having already committed that much to the pot. Madsen ultimately made the call, his opponent showed A-A, and Madsen mucked showing K J 9. Scott Clements and Pat Poels, both two-time bracelet winners (both with a victory in an Omaha Eight-or-better event as well) have both been eliminated from tonight's tournament. However another former Omaha Eight-Or-Better bracelet winner has seen his stock rise with a large scooped pot. Brett Jungblut rivered trip fours to compliment his nut low for the scoop, to elevate his stack among the chip leaders. Play will continue until 3am PST Notable Chip Counts

Double DutyJun 22, '07 A few players have fallen in the first hour of play today. The field is currently down to 135 players on 15 tables.Hasan Habib has been mixing it up with the player in Seat 1 at his table. Habib folded to him on the river, surrendering sizable pot. On the very next hand Habib calls him down to the river this time with a board of A J 3 3 5. Seat 1 shows A A for the full house, but Habib shows 8-4 for a rivered low, and they chop the pot. Brett Jungblut found himself all in against Barry Greenstein with a wheel, however Barry caught halfway up on the river, making a flush to take half of the pot away from Jungblut. Greenstein is pulling double duty today, playing in both this event and the pot limit holdem event that began at 12:00pm today. Chris Ferguson was pulling double duty as well, but had one of those jobs taken away. Busting out of this event, he simply moved a few tables over from 46 to 31, and sat back down in the holdem event. The European contingent has been severely diminished since yesterday but David Benyamine, Thor Hansen, John Shipley ($4,120 in chips) and Patrik Antonius remain. Notable Chip Counts

Razz UpdateJun 17, '07 The $1,500 Razz event is finishing up Level 4 after which they will break for fifteen minutes while the tournament staff races off the $5 chips. The field is short in size, but stacked in professional accomplishments as we can see several tables with quite a few pros sitting alongside each other. Hand For HandJun 16, '07 Level 9 has come to an end and 203 players remain. Players in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event are now going hand-for-hand in an effort to lose five more people before the money. Player Tags: J.C. Tran, Brett Jungblut, David Williams, Eugene Todd, Eric Froehlich, Alex Jacob Mammoth FieldJun 16, '07 Without the official numbers it is hard to say whether the field this year surpasses the number of entrants in 2006, but even if it does not, this tournament is massive. Every table in the Amazon Room and the Player's Pavilion was in use at the start of the day, and a number of extra tables even had to be set up in other parts of the Rio. The fact that the event is no-limit with a low buy-in, coupled with the fact that this tournament takes place during the weekend, make it extremely popular among amateurs and weekend warriors. One such player had the distinct honor of eliminating tough pro Thomas Wahlroos in the first ten minutes of the event. Wahlroos was seen leaving the floor, bemoaning the fact that he called a players all-in raise with pocket aces and got cracked. There is a shortage of stacked tables in this event, as unknown players by far outnumber notable pros. This has been the case in most of the low buy-in no-limit events, but in this case it is hard to find a table with more than one recognizable pro. In fact, when Joe Bartholdi sat down on the left of Humberto Brenes it quickly drew the attention of the fans on the rail. T.J. Cloutier has doubled his stack to over $6,000 in the first level as a result of his solid play. With a flop of J 10 8 Cloutier bet out $250. The player in seat seven called. The turn was the A and Cloutier checked. The player in seat seven made it $400 to go and Cloutier called. The river was the 5 and Cloutier checked again. The player in seat seven bet out $1,000 and and Cloutier took no time at all to call. Cloutier turned over K J and the player in seat seven showed Q 8. Cloutier took down the pot and added to his stack. Monster Lay DownsJun 08, '07 Level 2 has brought us some big eliminations and some even bigger emerging chip stacks. Sorel Mizzi managed to pick off Tong G and Tuan Le back to back-to-back within a half hour’s time, and as a result he has amassed roughly $45,000 in chips. Player Tags: T.J. Cha-Ching!Jun 05, '07 Play has ended for day one of the $1,000 No Limit Hold 'Em with rebuys tournament. Today's event started with 844 players and there are now just 81 left. The bubble burst and tournament officials announced that play would end for the day as a result of everyone being in the money. Every returning player will earn at least $5,826. Play will resume tomorrow at 2 p.m. and will continue until the final table is reached.Joe Sebok didn't survive long enough to make the money after making a move from the small blind. The player in seat eight bet out and Sebok asked him how much he had left. The player in seat eight only had around $26,000 left. Upon learning this, Sebok pushed all in. The player in the big blind, who had both Sebok and the player in seat eight covered, came over the top and pushed all in. Sebok had A-J and the player in the big blind woke up with aces. An ace hit on the flop and Sebok never improved. Tournament officials announced that hand for hand play would begin at 83 players. Shortly after this announcement, Sorel Mizzi took it upon himself to help speed up the process. Following a flop of Q42, Mizzi bet out $10,000. His opponent in seat four raised him to $24,000. Mizzi pushed all in and had his opponent covered. Deciding whether or not to call appeared to be a painful process for the player in seat four and he took a very long time to make that decision. He eventually called and before he could flip over his cards Mizzi showed him his AA. The player in seat four had KQ. The board bricked out when the turn and the river came 3 and J, respectively. Mizzi doubled up to over $240,000 and sits alone as the current chip leader. In the field returning tomorrow are Amir Vahedi, Kristy Gazes, Jeff Shulman, Brett Jungblut, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Gracz, Shane Schleger, Sorel Mizzi, Jason Strasser, Gavin Griffin, Shannon Shorr, Michael Binger and Alex Prendes Jr. For day two action check back with CardPlayer.com. Player Tags: Amir Vahedi, Michael Gracz, Brett Jungblut, Kristy Gazes, Jeff Shulman, Antonio Esfandiari, Gavin Griffin, Alex Prendes Jr., Shane Schleger, Joe Sebok, Michael Binger, Jason Strasser, Shannon Shorr, Sorel Mizzi Strasser Takes LeadJun 06, '07 Play began after the color up, 10 minutes earlier than the remaining players were told. Most returned to their seats in good time as several announcements were made about the early restart. Michael Binger, however, did not hear the annonuncements, and was livid when he returned to find he had missed 10 minutes of action. This level of play saw the exit of many top pros. Jeff Shulman and Antonio Esfandiari could no longer survive on their short stacks and were knocked out. Amir Vahedi, took one back for the old guard when he was able to make his pocket Aces hold up against Eric “Sheets” Haber’s pocket Queens. Kristy Gazes rode quite a roller coaster. She was crippled down to her last $11,000 after her opponent cracked her pocket At the internet the table the attitude seems very upbeat, despite each of the players trying to ‘stack’ each other. Pokerstars superstar Dario Minieri, the first to win a Porsche Carrera by accumulating 3 million Frequent Player points, was involved in two big hands with online pros. First Dario lost a race to Josh Vanduyn with A-K versus 7-7. Then Dario moved all in after a Todd Witteles raise. Witteles made the call and both players flipped over A-K, and each ended up making two pair, and they chopped the pot. Jason Strasser has quietly crept into the chip lead, continuing his fantastic showing so far at this year’s World Series There are currently 29 players remaining.
