Jonathan Karamalikis raised to 32,000 and Owen Crowe three-bet to 92,000 from the button. Karamalikis called and the flop fell 874.

Karamalikis checked and Crowe bet 70,000. Karamalikis then check-raised to 172,000, and Crowe responded by moving all in for 481,000.

Karamalikis called quickly, tabling KQ for a flush draw and two overs, but Crow had him in terrible shape with A5 for the nut flush draw.

The turn and river came 4A and Crowe doubled to nearly 1.2 million. Karamalikis was left with 790,000.

The blinds folded and Karamalikis revealed pocket nines. Seimsen, however, had him in bad shape with pocket kings. The board fell J7284 and Karamalikis was eliminated. Seimsen now has 2,350,000.

It looks like we have 238 runners today and there are now 175 players still in the mix as play gets close to the dinner break on Day 1A.

Tom Dwan won’t advance past the first day of this event as he fell before the dinner break. He will very likely participate in the $250,000 buy-in single table tournament on January 27 though, so he should stick around in Melbourne for the next couple days.

Another pro who fell just before dinner is young Australian Jonathan Karamalikis. He was all in preflop with K-J, but he was dominated by the A-K of Cliff Lee, who flopped an ace to seal the young Aussie’s fate. Here is a look at the tournament statistics:
