Level 16 Hour Two Update: We're In The MoneyJul 13, '10 Blinds: 2,500-5,000 with a 500 ante 1. Matt Affleck – 1,350,000 Kido Pham Kido Pham Eliminated Kido Pham moved all-in under-the-gun for his last 35,000 and was called by Josh Brikis. They were off to the races when Pham showed 88 and Brikis tabled AK. The board ran out 2J710Q. Brikis rivered a straight to end Pham’s tournament just four spots shy of a main event cash. Makhija Forces a fold There was a flop of Q84, there was already approximately 85,000 in the middle and a player checked over to Amit Makhija in the hijack seat. Makhija moved all-in for his remaining chips and the television cameras rushed over. Eventually his opponent folded and Makhija increased his stack to 190,000. Cunningham Gets Bluffed Allen Cunningham bet 40,000 into John Ambrust for 40,000 on a flop of AKA. Amburst made the call and the turn card was a 10. Cunningham now checked and Ambrust put out a bet. Cunningham folded fairly quickly and Abrust showed 8-7, showing a complete airball. Cunningham slipped to 210,000 and Ambrust is up to 890,000. Bubble Bursts As Tim McDonald Is Eliminated In 748th Place Ismail Erkenov raised to 10,000 from the hijack and Tim McDonald repopped to 30,000. Erkenov made the call and the flop came down AA2. McDonald shoved for 37,500 and Erkenov snapped him off. McDonald tabled QQ but Erkenov flopped the joint as he tabled A2 for a full house. The turn was the 7, leaving McDonald drawing dead. To add a bit of insult to injury, the river was the Q to give him a dead full house. McDonald earned the distinction of being the 2010 WSOP Main Event bubble boy. He went home with no cash, but did receive a buy-in to the 2011 Main Event. Amit Makhija Eliminated Picking up the action after the flop fell 943, Amit Makhija moved all in for 150,000 and the small blind made the call. Makhija: JJ Makhija was ahead with the overpair but had to dodge the nut-flush draw and wheel draw. The turn was the 9 and relatively harmless, but the river was the 4 to make the flush and Makhija was out. Smith Busts Max Casal put in a raise from the cutoff and Gavin Smith moved in from the big blind for 29,500. The cutoff called and they showed their cards: Smith: 33 Smith was racing but fell behind on the AK10 flop. The board finished off 2 and 8 and Smith was eliminated. $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha - Level 18Jun 30, '08 Players are on a 20-minute break. Blinds: 5,000-10,000 Players Remaining: 20 of 381 Average Chip Stack: 381,000 Chip Leaders: Kido Pham - 1,145,000 Eliminations: The following players received $28,651: Jamie Pickering - 27th place Hands and Storylines: Kido Pham does what few would do -- twice After a player raised to 30,000 Kido Pham made the called. Then Stephen Ladowsky reraised to 130,000 and only had 146,000 left. Pham asked him what what he wanted Pham to do, but he wouldn't answer. So Pham called and the two saw a K98 flop. Ladowsky moved all in and Pham quickly called. Ladowsky: AAJ8 The turn was the 7, giving Pham a straight and a commanding lead. The river was the 6, and Pham claimed the pot to move to over one million chips. Near the end of the level he again called a big reraise, this time made by Peter Jetten. The flop came KJ3 and Jetten moved all in. This time, after Pham asked for a count of Jetten's stack, Pham quickly mucked his hand. In another hand during the level, Pham called an early position raise by Brent Hale, and then check-raised him all in after a A74 flop. As Hale considered calling, Pham offered to flip over one card for $1,000. Hale then called with A-K-J-4, and was well way behind Pham's 7-7-6-5. Hale caught a jack on the turn to add three outs, but the river was a trey, giving Pham a straight he didn't even need. Williams's aces let him down, Pickering runs into aces It seems like fitting that Nikolay Evdakov was eliminated and then the action picks up. It's as if the other players -- even those at other tables -- were so angry with his stalling that it affected everyone's play. On a flop, David Williams put his remaining chips into the pot with just pocket aces, and ran into Julian Powell's flopped two pair. He didn't get the help he needed and was eliminated on the hand. Later in the level Rob Hollink moved all in preflop with A-K-T-6 and was called by Josh Arieh, who held a pair of aces. Arieh's hand held, sending Hollink to collect his money. Player Tags: Josh Arieh, David Williams, Kido Pham $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha - Level 17 - The Stalling is OverJun 30, '08 Blinds: 4,000-8,000 Players Remaining: 27 of 381 Average Chip Stack: 282,000 Chip Leaders: Josh Arieh - 645,000 Eliminations: The following players received $25,069: Nikolay Evdakov - 28th place Hands and Storylines: Evdakov stalls (again), exits on money bubble Nikolay Evdakov was again causing problems with his extremely deliberate play. Players at his table and other tables were complaining, and a tournament director told him to act more quickly or face a clock every hand. Then, after Brandon Moran had raised to 20,000, Evdakov decided to risk his remaining chips and move all in for just 32,000 more. Moran knew he wasn't in a good spot but had to call. Evdakov: AAKJ When Evdakov showed his hand, many others were incredulous, unable to understand why he'd take so long to make the obvious all in move. So when Moran sucked out, they were all ecstatic. Matsson bests Pickering's monster draw After a flop of A85 Kenneth Matsson moved all in and Jamie Pickering was right there with him after a series of back-and-forth raises. Matsson: AK65 A five came on the turn to give Matsson a full house and the pot of over 500,000 chips. Pickering, meanwhile, dropped all the way to 130,000 chips. Pham "catches" Benefield With the board 85452, David Benefield bet 36,000 and was raised to 96,000 by Kido Pham. Benefield thought it over for a minute before folding his hand. As he folded Pham told him, "I catch you stealing." Benefield shook his head and said he was value-betting. Pham has over 600,000 chips to end the level, while Benefield has around 300,000 chips. Player Tags: Kido Pham, Jamie Pickering, David Benefield, Kenneth Matsson, Nikolay Evdakov, European Report $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha - Level 15 - D'Agostino Out on BubbleJun 30, '08 Blinds: 2,500-5,000 Players Remaining: 36 of 381 Average Chip Stack: 211,700 Eliminations: John D'Agostino - 37th place Hands and Storylines: D'Agostino's aces get cracked -- hand-for-hand ends It folded around to Magnus Petersson in the small blind and he raised to 15,000 and John D'Agostino reraised all in. Petersson called and when the two flipped over their hands D'Agostino was hoping to double up. D'Agostino: AA85 Petersson flopped trips and knocked out D'Agostino, ending the long and painful hand-for-hand play. Evdakov extends record, but draws others' ire Nikolay Evdakov cashed in this event, giving him 10 cashes for this year's series. But he has been a short stack this entire level, and his methodical pace has irritated many others. Players were openly talking about his play just a few feet away and timing him to see how long he would take before acting. David Williams definitely doesn't consider him a contender in this event, saying he "stalls, waits for the nuts, doubles up and goes back into hiding." Big stacks take bullying to the edge On one hand during hand-for-hand play, Kido Pham announced that if the first two players folded he would raise in the dark. He already had the chips in his hand, and when it was his turn to act he raised to 12,000, just 7,000 more than the big blind. "I want to call a reraise," Pham said. But it never came to that; all the players folded. Pham quickly put his cards in the muck and collected the blinds. Arieh tried something similar, but the result was different. He raised blind, but Julian Powell reraised. Arieh called the preflop raise, and then called on the flop when Powell moved the rest of his chips in. Powell: AAJ3 Arieh had a great chance to win, flopping a pair and a flush draw, but missed all his outs and doubled up another opponent. Clonie gone in 39th Clonie Gowen called all in with an overpair and a flush draw against Shawn Buchanan's top two pair. Buchanan turned a full house, leaving Gowen with just two outs on the river. The river was a blank, and Gowen missed out on cashing by two spots. Williams picks up chips, then drops back down David Williams was ecstatic when he knocked out Gary Benson with top two pair against top and bottom pair on the flop. He was over 100,000 chips for the first time in a long time and then won more hands to get over 150,000 chips. But during hand-for-hand play he gave many of them back when he called a 25,000 river bet with the board K97J6 and was shown Q8.

The two checked the flop and on the turn the board read J1063. Pham bet 80,000 and Jetten called. The river was the 4 and Pham checked. Jetten bet 125,000 and after a minute Pham raised the pot, putting Jetten all in if he called. After taking well over five minutes, Jetten called with Q542. Jetten had a six-high straight, but with three diamonds on the board it was certainly possible he was beat. Kido Pham Eliminated in 6th Place ($170,117) After Michael Mizrachi, Billy Argyros and Richard Harroch limp into the pot, Kido Pham makes a raise from the big blind. Mizrachi calls and the others fold. The flop comes Q107, and after Pham checks Mizrachi bets 300,000. The turn is the 6 and again Pham checks. Mizrachi, who has Pham covered, moves all in. Minutes go by before Pham makes his decision to call and put his tournament life at risk. Pham: AAK5 River: 6 Pham needed an ace or jack on the river, but instead the board paired and Mizrachi won with a full house. He knocked out Pham, who will take home $170,117, in 6th place.
