Boris Becker Gets Served
Oct 01, '10
“All in and a call” can be heard frequently around the room, and this time it looked like it was PokerStars Team Sportstar Boris Becker whose tournament life was on the line. The cards were in front of him and a crowd gathered. “Boris! Boris! Bye Boris!” shouted a familiar voice. Becker looked across the area and saw Daniel Negreanu waving. He started waving back and then realised his teammate was waving goodbye, “It’s not me!” he said smiling.
A few moments later he was all in however with his K K facing his opponent’s A A. The board came Q 8 4 7 4 and Becker made his exit.

Official Numbers
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure has officially surpassed last year’s mark of 1,347. A total of 846 players bought in for day 1B and with day 1A’s 669, have formed a field of 1,515.
Prize pool and payout information has yet to be passed along, but last year’s tournament awarded a cool $3 million for first. We’re expecting around $3.5 million this time around.
Big Hands:
That’s Game For Boris Becker
Boris Becker came over the top of a player’s opening raise for his last 11,000 in chips with AQ and was called by AK.
Becker couldn’t overcome the domination as the board ran out J521010, ending his main event late in the day.
Jayde Nicole Exits, Room Suffers
Playboy Playmate Jayde Nicole raised to 1,300 from middle position and Andrew McNamee raised all in from the big blind. Nicole called all in for her last 12,000 or so and the cards went on their backs.
Nicole showed two red jacks and McNamee was racing with AK. The board came 966AQ and McNamee paired his ace on the turn to send Nicole from the tournament area.
After the hand, McNamee said, “I almost didn’t like that ace.” Neither did we, Andrew.
Phil Ivey Makes Kings Work
Phil Ivey raised to 1,600, Chris “SloppyKlod” Klodnicki raised to 4,500 and then Dominic Nitsche moved all in for 27,000. Ivey called and Klodnicki folded.
Nitsche showed pocket queens, but Ivey’s pocket kings were best, holding on a board reading 752A8. Ivey is now pushing 115,000 in chips.
Alexandre Gomes Runs Into Kings
Team PokerStars Pro Alexandre Gomes has fallen short of his triple crown, at least for the time being, when his big slick ran into an opponent’s pocket kings.
Suck, Resuck, For Vitaly Lunkin
WSOP superstar Vitaly Lunkin just went through a wide range of emotions in a very short span. Lunkin showed pocket eights on a flop of 10107, but Kasey Thompson revealed pocket sevens for the under full.
Lunkin had four outs to survive and one hit when the 10 peeled off the turn. Just one-out separated the Russian from a double up, but the 7 came on the river to end his tournament. Brutal.

Table Changes
Feb 18, '09
Jonas Molander is now on Andrea Benelli and Theo Jorgensen's table. Benelli has 22,000, Jacobson has 18,000.
Orjan Holt has been moved to Boris Becker's table and the change of scenery seems to have agreed with him. With triple his chip stack from before he has been playing aggressively and confidently, and tensions seem to have changed at the table.
Seat 2 at his table bets 550, Holt from the hijack raises it to 2,100, seat 2 folds.
In the very next hand, Holt raises to 500 and Boris Becker calls from the button.
The flop comes down AJ10 and Holt checks. Becker bets 1,200 and Holt insta-calls, so much so his chips are nearly down before Becker's.
The turn is the 8 and Holt checks once again. Becker bets 4,000 and Holt asks how much he has behind. 3,175 is the amount, so Holt thinks for a bit and then reveals the A and folds. Becker takes back the focus and rakes in his chips. Holt is back down to about 13,300, but there is no doubt that this will change once again very soon.

Boris Beckons a Call
Feb 18, '09
An under-the-gun Boris Becker calls a raise of 450 (300 plus blinds) and we see a flop: K92.
Some rather feminine-looking Dolce & Gabbana shades are now placed on the prestinely groomed head of the tennis star and Becker bets 800. His opponents seem to fear him, maybe less for his play, than his celebrity status. That however won't last long, and he will have to make sure his game speaks for itself. Becker scoops the pot and places his Gabbana's back on the felt.

Boris Becker and the Table of Death
Apr 13, '08
On a flop of 855 former tennis star Boris Becker called a bet of 1,000. The turn came 2, Becker checked but called another bet of 1,500 and the river came J. The Team PokerStars pro from Germany checked again, but called a bet of 2,000 and his opponent tabled K5 for a flopped set and Becker mucked.
Several others at the table sneaked glances at each other, no doubt wishing they had been at the receiving end of such loose play.
Elsewhere Antonio Esfandiari has joined Gus Hansen, Dario Alioto, Max Pescatori, and Marc Goodwin at the Table of Death. Ram Vaswani has what looks like over 30,000 in chips and is at a new table and William Thorsson has moved to join Chad Brown, Daniel Negreanu and Paul Testud.
A short-stacked Gavin Griffin tried to get involved in a pot by calling a raise of 600 pre-flop but a board of AK6 saw his opponent make the first move and Grifin quickly folded and auto-counted his remaing chips - all 10 or so of them totalling about 2,000.
