It's Just Not His DayJul 18, '16 Ryan Welch has been eliminated, again. And for the third time this today, he lost with pocket kings. This time, Welch got it all in with kings against the pocket aces of Clayton Maguire and did not catch up. Welch is out again, and he can’t re-enter until tomorrow or day 2. Maguire now has 46,000. Gennady Kalin called from the small blind and Welch called as well. All three players checked to the river on a board reading AKQ72 and then Weissman bet 3,900. Kalin and Welch folded and Weissman increased his stack to 32,000. Player Tags: Ryan Welch Ryan Welch Eliminated By Scott EfronJul 18, '16 According to his former table, Ryan Welch has been eliminated. Welch made a set of kings and happened to run into a straight from Scott Efron to end his tournament just 45 minutes into the day. Welch might not want to see kings again for awhile after he was forced to fold them preflop earlier in level 1. Efron, who also played on day 1A, now has 36,800 in chips. Player Tags: Ryan Welch, Scott Efron Ryan Welch Claims To Fold Kings PreflopJul 18, '16 We didn’t catch the action, but there wasn’t much in the pot and there was a 2,500 bet sitting in front of Ryan Welch. His opponent, Gennady Kalin, moved all in, having Welch covered. Welch had 18,700 behind, and seemed very perplexed by the big shove. After a little while in the tank, Welch folded what he claimed was pocket kings, seemingly not interested in being coolered on level 1 of this tournament. Only Kalin knows whether the fold was correct or not, and he’s not giving anything away, but he’s either very happy he got kings to fold, or is silently tilted for not getting the double up. That Was QuickFeb 28, '11 We didn’t catch the action, but Ryan Welch just stopped by to tell us how he was the first to be eliminated here on day 4. It folded to Welch in the small blind and he moved all in with 10-8. Luke Staudenmaier slowly peeled his cards with Welch and looked down at A-4, more than enough to make the call. The board ran out 9-9-9-K-A and Welch was eliminated. Player Tags: Luke Staudenmaier, Ryan Welch |

Level 2 Update: Shamseddin, Welch Make Early ExitsOct 15, '10 Blinds: 100-200 Players Remaining: 245 out of 258 Chip Counts: 1. Joe Sebok — 90,000 Card Player Chip Counts Daniel Negreanu — 49,000 Average Chip Count: 40,000 Notable Eliminations: Ryan Welch Big Hands: Ryan Welch Gets Busted By Aces After a series of preflop bets and raises, Ryan Welch found himself all in holding AK against the AA of Mark Ader. Welch asked the dealer for some clubs, and he obliged with a flop of 10108. The turn and river were bricks, however, falling 35 and Welch was eliminated. He bemoaned his bad luck in the hands leading up to his last and left the room shaking his head in disbelief. Eric Wasserson Doubles Up We didn’t catch the action, but a flurry of bets and raises resulted in Eric Wasserson being all in holding AQ on a board reading Q9. His opponent snap called and had Wasserson thinking the worst as he asked, “pocket threes?” Instead, his opponent revealed Q9 to have trip queens with a worse kicker. The turn and river fell 710 and Wasserson doubled up to 62,000. Steve O’Dwyer Uses Position to Win Pot Jeff Shulman raised to 550 from the cutoff and Steve O’Dwyer made the call on the button. The big blind called as well and the flop came down K93. The big blind check, Shulman checked and O’Dwyer bet 1,250. The big blind passed and Shulman mucked his hand, giving the pot to O’Dwyer, who is now back up to his original starting stack of 40,000. Shulman is still above the average with 57,000. Featured Poker Tweets Left In The Deck Chewy Must Drinky If you aren’t familiar with the current trend of “icing” then google it. Tony Dunst just pulled off the stunt at the expense of Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger, who returned from his break to find the bottle of Smirnoff Ice hiding under his chair. The WPT cameras got a nice shot of their new “Raw Deal” host in action, but one wonders how Lichtenberger could have fallen for such an obvious attempt, espescially considering all of the cameras surrounding the table.
