Craig Bergeron Literally Flips a Coin on the Money Bubble

A hand played into the first break and Craig Bergeron faced a call for his tournament life as the break clock counted down. He pulled out a quarter and flipped the coin to determine if he would make the call. It landed heads and he made the call, but he was unfortunately eliminated from the tournament. The top 56 players will now all walk away with at least $7,500 in prize money.

Daniel Negreanu Doubles Up an Opponent

Daniel Negreanu raised preflop on the button and the big blind reraised all in for 57,800. Negreanu made the call and they flipped over their cards:

Negreanu: Q J
Opponent: A 7

Board: 9 4 3 2 5

Negreanu lost the hand and his stack fell below 300,000.

George Lind Doubles Up Opponent and Busts a Short Time Later

George Lind raised to 8,000 preflop from middle position and the hi-jack reraised all in for 78,800. Lind made the call and they flipped over their cards:

Lind: J J
Opponent: A Q

Board: Q 5 3 5 9

Lind paid off his opponent and he was left with just 25,000. He busted out of the tournament a short time later.

David Peters Takes Down an Early Pot

The board read 10 4 4 and there was 65,000 in the pot when a player in late position raised to 36,600. David Peters made the call and then both players checked the J on the turn. The river fell K and Peters bet 79,000. Late position tanked and eventually mucked.

Peters was up to 265,000 after the hand.

Eric Froehlich Hits The Rail

Tyler Smith raised and Scott Fischman reraised to 5,500 from the button. Eric Froehlich, who had lost the majority of his stack a few hands earlier, then moved all in from the small blind.

Smith reraised to 16,500 and Fischman folded. Froehlich’s pocket fours were in big trouble against Smith’s pocket aces and he received no help on the flop, turn or river.

David “bakes” Baker Doubles Up

David Baker found himself short stacked and all in holding pocket jacks against the pocket nines of his opponent.

The board brought no help for either player and Baker is now back to his original starting stack of about 30,000 in chips.

Bad Luck For Craig Bergeron

After a series of preflop raises, Craig Bergeron had an opponent all in and covered holding AK. His opponent showed AK and in all likelihood, they were heading for a chop.

Instead, the board fell Q75105 and Bergeron lost the pot to a runner-runner flush. He now has just 10,000 in chips.

Chad Brown Loses Some Chips

The button raised to 2,100 and Team PokerStars Pro Chad Brown made the call from the big blind. The flop came down Q94 and Brown checked.

The button continued with a bet of 1,700 and Brown made the call. The turn was the A and the button fired in 4,000. Brown folded, bringing his stack to 39,000.

All of a sudden, Chris “BigHuni” Hunichen is sitting at the top of the leaderboard with about 190,000 in chips.

Carter Phillips raised on the button and Craig Bergeron reraised to 295,000 from the small blind. Phillips four-bet shoved with the J7 and was called by the 77 of Bergeron. The flop brought a jack for Phillips and it held to eliminated Bergeron. Phillips was at 5,800,000 after the hand.

From the button, Samuel Gerber bet 100,000 and Carter Phillips three-bet to 275,000. Gerber moved all in and Phillips made the call. Phillips tabled the AK and was head of the Q8 of Gerber. The board ran out A97J5 and Phillips won the bracelet.
