Pocket Eights for SpindlerOct 04, '09 Mikael Gabrielsson is applying pressure to his table. He has just moved up to 133,000 in chips. In a recent hand, he bet 4,800 from late position and Benjamin Spindler made the call. The flop came 4 3 2 and Gabrielsson bet 11,100 . Spindler made the call. The turn was the 5 and both players checked. The river fell the 10 and they checked once again. Gabrielsson showed K Q while Spindler revealed pocket eights to take the pot down. He is now on 152,000 while Gabrielsson is a bit behind on 133,000. Player Tags: Benjamin Spindler The Chip Leader FaltersOct 05, '09 Benny Spindler is having a bad start to this level after doubling up two of his shorter stacked opponents. He isn’t loving K-Q either, which was his hand on both occasions. First, Rui Milhommens got it in with pocket fours and it held to take 200,000 off of him. Second, Kenneth Hicks put it in with A-J and spiked an ace to take another 300,000 off him. The total damage was 500,000, but Spindler is still in charge with about 1.2 million. Things have certainly tightened up, however. Player Tags: Benjamin Spindler Spindler Takes Massive Chip LeadOct 05, '09 HUGE POT BELOW! On a flop reading AKQ, Lawrie Inman bet 100,000 and Benny Spindler called. The turn was the 2 and Spindler moved all in, getting an insta-call from Inman. Inman showed KQ for two pair, but Spindler showed A2 for aces up, along with the nut flush draw. The river was the 6 and Inman was eliminated. Spindler took the massive pot and now has 1.7 million. Player Tags: Benjamin Spindler, Lawrie Inman Spindler Versus ScaffelOct 05, '09 On a J-6-6-Q-A board, Kevin Schaffel took a stab at the pot and bet 80,000. Benjamin Spindler eyed Schaffel and then made the call. Schaffel said, “Good call,” and flipped over pocket fives. Spindler took the pot with pocket nines. Schaffel: 570,000 Spindler: 600,000 Player Tags: Benjamin Spindler Benny Spindler Eliminated in 12th Place (£28,000)Oct 06, '09 Benny Spindler was one of the most feared players coming into today, but an early confrontation with Raymond Wu proved to be too much for the young German to overcome. Player Tags: Marty Smyth, Benjamin Spindler Player Profile: Benjamin SpindlerOct 06, '09 Here is a little bio on Benny Spindler from our friends at PokerStars: Benjamin Spindler, 24, near Frankfurt, Germany Came third at the PCA last season for $1,100,000. Best result since then was winning the PokerStars €25k SCOOP heads-up tourney for $310,000. Today said: “I feel great. This is my second deep run in an EPT but it’s a very tough field now and I have a tough table. Yesterday I had a good table to be aggressive at and could open a lot of hands. That worked for me. Outside of poker, I like sports, basketball and computer games – that’s what I was into before poker. “I played well at the PCA. I’m satisfied with my performance and that experience will help me at the feature table table. The players I’m most wary of are Peter Eastgate and Annette but we’re all given two cards, so anything can happen. It would mean an awful lot to me to win this. “My girlfriend Katharina isn’t here but she’s coming with me to a tournament in Morocco straight after this.” Player Tags: Benjamin Spindler |

It looks like Gregg is gone but the board runs out AJ882 doubling Gregg up to 8.8 million. Player Tags: Anthony Gregg, Benjamin Spindler Benny Spindler Doubles UpJan 10, '09 Anthony Gregg and Benny Spindler got it all in on a flop of Q43. Gregg: 73 As the favorite with two overs and a flush draw, Spindler got there when the turn and river acme 4J, giving him the nut flush. Spindler now has 7.5 million to Gregg's 7.9 million. Player Tags: Anthony Gregg, Benjamin Spindler Anthony Gregg Doubles Up AgainJan 10, '09 Anthony Gregg and Benny Spindler found themselves all in on a flop of J87. Gregg: J7 The turn and river came 96 and Spindler failed to hit his outs. Gregg doubled up again to move into second place with 8.3 million in chips. Spindler now has about 6 million. Player Tags: Anthony Gregg, Benjamin Spindler Poorya Nazari Takes the LeadJan 10, '09 Anthony Gregg made it 245,000 to go from the button and both Benny Spindler and Poorya Nazari made the call in the blinds. The flop was dealt KJ7. Spindler bet 250,000 from the small blind and both players called. The turn fell 3 and Spindler bet 550,000. Nazari raised to 1,450,000 total and Gregg got out of the way. Spindler made the call and the river card was dealt 8. Spindler checked and Nazari moved all in for 4,590,000. The clock had expired into the dinner break at this point and Spindler decided to make the call. He turned over K3 and Nazari showed down K8. Nazari doubled on the hand to take the chip lead into the dinner break with 13,590,000 and Spindler was knocked down to 10,435,000. Player Tags: Anthony Gregg, Poorya Nazari, Benjamin Spindler Alexandre Gomes Eliminated in 4th Place ($750,000)Jan 10, '09 Alexandre Gomes raised apreflop nd Benny Spindler made the call. The flop came JJJ and Gomes continued with a bet of 535,000. Spindler raised to 1,350,000 and Gomes called. The turn was the 5 and Gomes checked. Spindler bet 2 million and Gomes quickly raised all in. Spindler called and showed the bad news with the KJ for quads. Gomes shows the next best hand with AA. The inconsequential river is the Q and Gomes is eliminated in fourth place. Spindler now sits with a massive chip lead and nearly 17 million in chips. Ironically, Gomes betting pattern was nearly identical to the one he employed the night before agasint Kevin Saul, when he also held aces on a board showing trips. This time, he failed to mix up his play and Spindler picked up on the strength of his hand. This allowed him to play his flopped quads fast and for maximum profit. A cooler for sure, but perhaps if played differently Gomes would still be left with some chips.
