Michael Werz Rivers Full HouseAug 02, '14 With the flop reading A77 Michael Warwick checked from the big blind. Michael Werz bet 1,000 from under the gun +1 and Mohammad Arani folded from the cutoff. Warwick called and the two saw the 6 open on the turn. Warwick then check-called Merz’s bet of 1,000 to see the 4 on the river. The action repeated itself with Warwick again check-calling Merz’s bet of 1,000 resulting in a showdown. Merz showed 44 for a rivered full house and Warwick mucked his hand. “That was my fault,” Warwick said. “You let him get there,” a tablemate said. “Yeah. That was my fault. Nice hand,” Warwick told Merz. Merz responded with a “thank you.” Player Tags: Michael Warwick, Mohammad Abedi Arani The Champ is Back!Aug 02, '14 Mohammad Arani became the final Card Player Poker Tour champion of Season I when he took down this very event one year ago. Arani bested a field of 735 players and brought home his largest live score to date of more than $220,000. Most recently, Arani made a nice run in the World Series of Poker main event, where he finished 435 out of 6,683 players for $25,765. We will be keeping an eye on the defending champ throughout the day to see if he can become the first two-time CPPT champion! Player Tags: Mohammad Abedi Arani Mohammad Arani Eliminated by Austin Lewis in 14th for $11,138Aug 03, '14 Mohammad Arani has been eliminated as the 14th place finisher, meaning there will be brand new CPPT champion tomorrow. Arani was eliminated when he ran his JJ into Austin Lewis’s AK and the board ran out AK755. Player Tags: Austin Lewis, Mohammad Abedi Arani Defending Champ Scores a DoubleAug 03, '14 Mo Arani moved all in under-the-gun for his last 309,000. Action folded to Spencer Flores on the button, who tossed in a few chips to indicate a call. The blinds folded and the cards were tabled. It was off to the races with Arani holding QJ against Flores’ 1010. The flop and turn were safe for Flores, but the table let out a collective gasp on the river as the board ran out A755Q to give Arani a pair of queens and the double up to over 625,000. Flores continues to slide and is sitting with just under 1 million. Player Tags: Mohammad Abedi Arani Back-to-Back Champ?Aug 03, '14 Mohammad Arani is still alive and well with only 21 players remaining in the same event he won one year ago. The defending champ is now wondering if it’s possible to win this event two years in a row. In a recent hand Arani raised to 32,000 from under the gun+1 and action folded around to Lynn Samples in the big blind. Samples called and the two saw a flop of Q54. Samples checked and Arani responded with a bet of 34,000. Samples folded and the defending champ raked in a small pot. Player Tags: Lynn Samples, Mohammad Abedi Arani |

L.J McBride Wins Massive Pot With Nine High KickerAug 05, '12 Well, here’s a weird one told to us by the remaining players on table 16. On a flop of A K J, after a series of bets and raises, Mohammad Arani and Bryan Moon found themselves all in against L.J. McBride. Arani and Moon held Q 7 and 6 3 for flush draws. McBride? He had Q 9 after mistakenly thinking that he held a flush draw. Incredibly, the board ran out 2-4 with no spades, giving McBride the massive pot with just Q-9 high. Moon and Arani were eliminated and McBride chipped up to 200,000. “It’s how I planned it the whole time,” joked McBride. Player Tags: Mohammad Abedi Arani, L.J. McBride, Bryan Moon |
