Cardrooms sprouting up in Ireland
With the impending regulation of Ireland's cardrooms and casinos - instead of the feared closure - which are still operating as private clubs, new venues are opening up all over the country.

Amongst the latest offerings are The Phoenix Club in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, which stages hold'em tournaments on Thursdays and Sundays alongside a full complement of roulette and blackjack tables.

The Casa Casino on Rosemary Street, Roscrea, which doubles as a snooker hall, stages poker most evenings without the distractions of gaming tables.

Meanwhile, a multimillion euro development at the corner of Pery and Glenworth Street in Limerick will see the Fitzpatrick's Sporting Emporium open in the spring. Open to members paying an annual subscription, the new venue plans to offer some interesting features, such as fingerprint technology to gain entry, while the owners have acquired the actual table used in the 007 flick Casino Royale to place on display. spade
