All of you high-stakes poker-action junkies, get set for perhaps the wildest season yet of monster pots and bricks of cash trading hands.
The Game Show Network began airing the much anticipated fifth season of the popular poker cash-game show High Stakes Poker on Sunday, March 1. New episodes will air each Sunday.
High Stakes Poker has been a GSN staple since the first season aired in January 2006, and it continues to receive some of the highest ratings of any show offered by the network.
In the fifth season, all players must put up a minimum of $200,000 of their own money to play in the game. It's the highest minimum requirement the show has ever had to start its series. Last season, one of the cash games toward the end of the season featured a $500,000 minimum, and this season players can set higher limits if they desire.
This season, HSP regulars David Benyamine, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, and Eli Elezra will butt heads with online poker's top superstars, including Tom Dwan, Illari Shamies, and Dario Minieri. World Series of Poker Champion Peter Eastgate and runner-up Ivan Demidov will join the fun, as will Joe Hachem, Howard Lederer, and many others.
This year, Card Player and SpadeClub.com joined in a partnership with the show, and we're pumped to have a significant presence in the production.
We caught a glimpse of some upcoming episodes, and this promises to be the best season yet!
