The final table has been decided at the 2010 World Poker Tour World Poker Finals $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event in Connecticut. Action on day 5 was relatively quick at Foxwoods Resort Casino. A few big names exited the field as the the tournament played down from a dozen players to a half dozen, including Hoyt Corkins, Jason Mercier, and final table bubble boy Sorel Mizzi.
The final table will begin at 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and you can follow all of the action live through Card Player’s live coverage of the event.
This tournament will factor heavily into the Card Player Player of the Year race and it already has, with one top contender still in action here in Connecticut or others cashing in previous days of the event. Thomas Marchese (5,366 points) ended the night as the chip leader with 3,022,000. Former POY leader Dwyte Pilgrim holds 5,576 points and Marchese has already overtaken Pilgrim with a final-table appearance. A win here for Marchese would give him a nice lead.
Sorel Mizzi busted in seventh place in the tournament and added 360 points to his POY total, taking his efforts for the year up to 4,397 points, which is good fro second place.Mike Beasley (3,356 points — seventh place overall) cashed in 22nd place yesterday to add 36 points to his POY total today.
