Foxwoods, one of the largest casinos in the world, has announced plans to partner with Goodson Gaming, a television and entertainment firm to venture into online gaming. The partnership has been named Velocity Gaming.

The Foxwoods Development Company LLC issued a statement about the merge. “Velocity Gaming brings together industry leaders in gaming, television game show production, and global lotteries in order to produce an unparalleled combination that will generate product awareness, drive incremental game play, and create new and exciting customer experiences in the interactive gaming world.”

It has yet to be determined what this will mean for online poker, but speculation has already begun as to whether Foxwoods is positioning themselves should online gambling become legalized and regulated within the United States.

Gary Armentrout, Foxwoods Development President, told The Day on Thursday that for now, the venture would be limited to “those jurisdictions where internet gaming is fully legal, regulated, and taxed.”

Goodson gaming is comprised of Jonathan Goodson, son of the late game show producer Mark Goodson. Among the game shows in their line of credits are The Price is Right, Family Fued, Match Game, Double Dare and Card Sharks.

Velocity Gaming will be led by Gaming Solutions International’s Mark Hutchinson, who described the make up of the venture. “I’m the lottery game guy,” he said. “My partner, Goodson, is the TV guy, and Foxwoods Development is the land-based casino operator.”

Foxwoods is run by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and has the largest poker room on the East Coast with over 100 tables. They are also home to the World Poker Tour for their annual Foxwoods World Poker Finals.
