Even though he was known as the only rank amateur at the World Series of Poker main event final table, Soi Nguyen certainly played like a professional in a recent Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XVIII event.
Nguyen bested a field of 1,841 in a no-limit hold’em Rush tournament to collect a first-place prize of $78,504.
What makes his accomplishment even more remarkable is that the 37-year-old red pro won the very same event that he was assigned to host for the site. Nguyen joins Erick Lindgren as the only other Full Tilt pro to accomplish that feat.
In addition to his tournament winnings, Nguyen will also receive a limited edition FTOPS jacket and jersey avatar.
Nguyen was the first player to bust from the 2010 WSOP main event final table, losing a race against Jason Senti to earn $811,823.
