PokerStars European Poker Tour -- Barcelona Day 2Bryn Kenney Will Enter Day 3 As Chip Leader |
|
Day 2 has come to an end at the PokerStars EPT Barcelona main event, and sitting atop the leaderboard is American Bryn Kenney.
A little more than 400 of the 758 players who entered the event survived days 1A and 1B to make their way to today’s day 2 action. After another 7 levels of play, the money bubble burst when Koen De Visscher moved all in preflop with QQ and was called by Andrei Bucica with AA. The board of KJ366 sent De Visscher to the rail as the bubble boy, leaving 112 players still in the hunt for the EPT crown. They’ll return tomorrow for day 3 and play down to 27. All remaining players are guaranteed at least €7,500. The winner will take home €825,000.
Kenney finished day 2 with 693,500 in chips, followed closely by Roman Makhlin with 643,000 and Giuesseppe Pantaleo with 622,500. Also still alive are the likes of day 1B chip leader Luis Rufas (502,000), Dominik Nitsche (535,000), Alex Gomes (93,000), and Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (63,000).
Notables not making it through to day 3 are Andre Akkari, Michael Binger, Liv Boeree, Marcel Luske and Johnny Lodden.
Day 3 is scheduled to begin at noon.
Here’s a look at some of the action from day 2
ElkY Starts to Drop
On a flop of K54, ElkY check-called a bet of 12,000 from Konstantin Puchkov. Both players checked the 5 turn and ElkY fired out 22,000 on the 7 river. Puchkov raised to 73,000 and ElkY disgustedly made the call. Puchkov showed AJ for the flush and Elky dropped to around 200,000 in chips. He continued taking hits, ending the day with around 63,000.
Makhlin Grows a Huge Stack
Roman Makhlin called an all in bet prelfop from Gianni Giaroni. Makhlin held KK against Giaroni’s AJ. The board ran Q6310Q and Makhlin saw his stack grow significantly. He ended the day second in chips, with 643,000.
Binger Goes Busto
A short-stacked Michael Binger moved all in for around 20,000 holding A2 and was called by Ka Kuan Lau with A8. The flop didn’t help matters for Binger, running 1088, giving Lau trips. The 4 turn and 6 river completed the board and Binger was eliminated midway through the day.
