The top 16 players from this season’s European Masters of Poker (EMOP) went to battle on the Mexican Riviera between Dec. 5 and 12 for its final event of the year, the EMOP Master Cruise. It was Irishman John O’Shea who was crowned poker king of the seas, taking home the first prize of €12,500 but most importantly, the bragging rights.
When threehanded, O’Shea got some revenge on the player who had knocked him out in third place in a previous EMOP main event by doing the same back. The final hand then came when his heads-up opponent moved all in with K-10 and the Irishman called with A-K which ensured he topped a difficult field of champions, in a freeroll invite-only event.
Four percent was taken from all EMOP main event prize pools during the year for the EMOP Master Cruise which would see each participant receive a prize. The top spot, O’Shea, received 30 percent, second place received 16 percent, and the rest was divided between the
remaining field.
