The sixth annual Borgata Winter Open got underway Wednesday at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City with a $500 deep stack no-limit hold’em event featuring a guaranteed prize pool of $300,000. The opening tournament was the first of 26 events that are on the schedule from January 19-February 4.
Scheduled events include no-limit hold’em, limit hold’em, Omaha H/L, Pot Limit Omaha High, 7 Card Stud and H.O.S.E. The hold’em events will be played in alternative formats including deep stack, heads-up, 6-max, ladies only and a seniors event.
The highlight of the tournament series will be the $3,300 no-limit hold’em main event, taking place January 30-February 4. The championship event features a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million and will have two start dates. Day 1A starts Jan. 30 and Day 1B starts Jan. 31, both at 11 a.m. Players will begin with 30,000 in tournament chips.
Last year’s main event had a field of 766 players, creating a prize pool of $2,527,800. The top 72 players walked away with at least $6,130. Jeff Madsen bested Sirous Jamshidi heads up to win the $625,006 top prize.

Last year’s Borgata Winter Open drew in more than 13,600 players and paid out over $8 million throughout all of the events.
