Walker Runs Over UK's Largest Ever Poker Field

Gareth Walker. Credit: Neil StoddartGareth Walker has won the largest live poker tournament in the UK, the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Nottingham.

The £500 buy-in main event attracted a massive 1,058 players from 39 countries who in turn created a total prize pool of £529,000. Walker took the £109,000 first prize after he rid the event of his final obstacle, Brett Angell.

Trading chips back and forth, the final hand came around 5 a.m. today when Walker moved all in with 9Club Suit 6Club Suit and hit a flush versus Angell’s pocket tens. Angell took home £68,700 for his runner-up finish.
