The WPT’s first trip to Vienna saw a familiar face take down the €10,000 buy-in high roller event. American pro McLean Karr picked up where he left off from a successful 2010 in which he claimed well over $1 million in live tournament winnings by winning major events such as the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star main event for $878,500 and the £10,000 turbo high roller event at EPT London for £270,500.
Fifty players entered the WPT Veinna high roller event, but when the final table reached its last two players it was clear that both knew a thing or two about winning high roller events. Heads up with Karr was Germany’s Tobias Reinkemeier, who in 2010 bested a field of 113 players in the €25,000 EPT Grand Final high roller event for a prize of €956,000.
But there could be only one winner in Vienna, and he was crowned relatively quickly when Karr’s A-K won a race against Reinkemeier’s pocket sixes. Karr took home the €185,120 top prize. As the runner-up, Reinkemeier earned €104,560.
Here are the final results:
1. McLean Karr — €185,120
2. Tobias Reinkemeier — €104,560
3. Nicolo Calia — €57,040
4. Govert Metaal — €39 020
5. Kristijonas Andrulis — €29,520
6. Ronnie Kaiser — €24,760
