Andrew Badecker
Badecker wound up winning three tournaments in one, defeating mini-fields of 10, 10 and 16 to close out the victory. On the final day, he had to contend with four former WSOP bracelet winners, including Erik Cajelais, Dan Kelly, Vitaly Lunkin and David Pham.
Badecker is originally from Connecticut, but dropped out of Southern Connecticut State University to play poker full time, moving to Las Vegas this summer. At first, he wasn’t sure if he made the right decision, but now his mind is certainly more at ease.
“Honestly, I came out pretty under bankrolled,” he admitted. “I was going to play three events and had to sell some action so I could get into all three. I was going to see how the first few events went and if I ran good play more, and I guess that happened. I drove out from Connecticut, five days, saw the country and was planningn on staying here in Vegas an indefinite amount of time.”
