Eames speaks about close-calls at EPTs, his ideal Christmas, his love of Cannes, and much more in today’s Poker Q & A.

Rebecca McAdam: How was your 2011?

John Eames: Some disappointments early in the year and a downswing after Vegas, but it ended well so a good year overall.

RM: What were you most proud of?

JE: Difficult to say but probably my third place finish at EPT Copenhagen, even though I was disappointed not to win.

RM: What was your best memory of the year?

JE: Most memorable time of the year for me is always the WSOP in Vegas. Not great memories when it comes to poker but just being with my friends in a mansion in Vegas is a lot of fun.

RM: Did you learn anything this year about your game?

JE: During some of the downswings I had I realised that I actually wasn’t playing very well at times. It’s easy to blame things on bad luck too often. I improved at working hard when things weren’t going well.

RM: Where was the best place you’ve been in 2011?

JE:I always love having an excuse to go to Cannes and had a good time there on the occasions I went this year.

RM: What is your ideal way to spend Christmas?

JE: I’m normally just happy to stay at home. Usually feel quite burnt out by December so it’s nice to just do as little as possible and see people I don’t see enough of.

RM: What would be an ideal present to give to you?

JE: Difficult to say, anything that helps make my life a tiny bit more organised, I’m pretty incompetent at times!

RM: What are your poker plans for 2012?

JE: Probably just keep doing what I do every year, travel to as many big tournaments as I can. Tough to plan winning a major title but it would be great if I could.

RM: What are your hopes?

JE: I definitely feel like I’m due to win something major, would be disappointed if 2012 finished without a title, so hopefully it will happen.

RM: Who most impressed you this year in poker or who do you think had a fantastic year)?

JE: Chris Moorman finally really proved himself in the live arena, he had a remarkable year. It was inevitable though as for years now he’s been one of the hardest working players in poker. He loves the game.
