European Poker Awards Winners Announced

Pius Heinz, ElkY, and Jesse May Win Gong’s In Paris

The 11th Annual European Poker Awards were held last night in Paris and some familiar names picked up key awards including German World Champion Pius Heinz and French high roller Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

Heinz won the Best Tournament Performance award for his demolition of the near 7,000 strong World Series of Poker main event field while ElkY who the Rob Gardner Memorial Award for the Poker Personality of 2011.

Other key gong’s included TV commentator Jesse May lifting the Lifetime Achievement Award, PartyPoker’s pr man Warren Lush winning Staff Person of the Year, Sam Trickett taking Player of the Year, Ilari Sahamies binking Online Player of the Year, Andrey Pateychuk going home as Rookie of the Year, and Natalia Nikitina storming the Europe’s Leading Lady award.

Elsewhere in Paris the €5,000 buy in Euro Finals of Poker Diamond Championship gets underway at the Aviation Club de Paris today.

Last year, when it was under the WPT aegis, the event as won by Europe’s Leading Lady Natalia Nikitina.
