The PokerStars European Poker Tour Copenhagen main event has attracted 299 players, down by one-third on last year’s figure of 449.

The buy in has remained the same as last year at DKK37,250 while the first prize is significantly down – circa €496,000 last year, €338,000 this year. The overall prize pool has decreased from approximately €2 million to €1.3 million.

The number of participants in the main event is the lowest since season II and the January 2006 Scandinavian Open which got 288 runners. Since then all Copenhagen main events until now have attracted over 400 runners.

Last year the event was won by Michael Tureniec. Currently the field is headed by Steve O’Dwyer who took his end of day 1a chip lead through to the start of day 2 today with 190,975 in chips.
