Maltese-based U.S. poker pro Isaac Haxton came from behind in his PokerStars SuperStar Showdown heads up match against Viktor “Isildur1” Blom yesterday to scrape a narrow win and justify his Matchbook.com favouritism before the game.

The online game was interrupted on Sunday night after just 700 of the 2,500 hands when a fierce storm in Malta affected Haxton’s internet connection.

At the time he was staring into a $100,000 hole. When the game resumed Blom extended his lead to $130,000 before Haxton moved up a gear, wiped out all Blom’s lead and surged to an $80,000 profit himself.

Blom then erased all Haxton’s profit only to see himself bested by the smallest of margins – $5,093. Haxton was the first to play Blom in the series when he won back in December 2010 and he remains the only player to have beaten Blom in the series.
