$100k Champion Erik Seidel The luxurious Bellagio Hotel and Casino is once again preparing to host its prestigious Five Star World Poker Classic poker series, home of the season-ending $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship main event.

The series gets underway with the first of its 34 events on Friday, May 4th. The series will feature tournaments for all levels of players, with buy-ins ranging from as low as $330 all the way up to the $100,000 buy-in WPT super high roller.

This massive six-figure event premiered last year to great success, with poker legend Erik Seidel topping a field of 29 entrants to earn $1,092,780. The final table last year was overrun with big names, including runner-up Erick Lindgren, third place finisher Daniel Negreanu, Vivek Rajkumar and Justin Bonomo. The event returns for its second year, kicking off on May 23rd. The event will be filmed for a WPT televised broadcast.

The Five Star World Poker Classic features many exciting events, but the undeniable highlight is the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship main event, which begins on May 19th and continues until a new champion is crowned at the televised WPT final table on May 26th.

2011 WPT Champion Scott Seiver For international players who are concerned about conflicts with the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), be aware that registration in the main event remains open until the beginning of level 11 on day 3 (Monday, May 21st).

In the 2011 running of the main event, a total of 220 players posted the $25,000 buy-in, building a $5,335,000 prize pool. The last man standing was Scott Seiver, who topped a tough final table to capture the prestigious title, the $1,618,334 first prize and 1,584 Card Player Player of the Year points.
