Card Player’s very own Allyn Jaffrey Shulman was profiled in a Las Vegas Review Journal story by Howard Stutz, detailing her poker history and run through 4,128 players in the $1,000 Senior’s Championship at the 2012 World Series of Poker.
The article delves into Shulman’s career as a successful attorney, working in what was at the time a male-dominated profession. After picking up poker as a hobby, Shulman balanced her career, being a mother and learning the game at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.
Shulman earned $603,713 for her victory, becoming the first woman in the last 249 mixed gender events to win WSOP gold. “The satisfaction came from winning,” Shulman told the LVRJ. “But I hope this does inspire ladies that they can mix it up with the boys.”
Allyn joined her husband Barry and stepson Jeff in becoming the first family in poker history to have three members make a WSOP final table in the same summer series. Incredibly, the Shulman’s managed that feat in less than a week.
