Phil Ivey must really like Europe.

The American poker pro finished second in the European Poker Tour's Barcelona event, pocketing €371,000. This was the first time he played in an EPT event. He lost to Bjorn Erik-Glenne, who won €691,000 for his victory. When it got down to heads-up play, Erik-Glenne had Ivey out-chipped about €5 million to €350,000.

Last November, Ivey flew to Monte Carlo for two tournaments, the $25,000 buy-in Monte Carlo Millions and the single-table FullTiltPoker.net Invitational Live, which was aired live on Thanksgiving here in the States.

First, he outlasted more than 110 players at the Monte Carlo Millions. The next day, he outlasted Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, Gus Hansen, Dave Ulliott, Mike Matusow, and John Juanda, to win the invitational.

Winning both events made Ivey $1.6 million richer.

EPT Barcelona attracted 480 players and the buy-in was €5,000. It was the largest field in the three-year history of the EPT. The top 10 players won at least €25,400.
