The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Coventry main event gets underway today Saturday August 25 at midday local time.
The G Casino Coventry hosts the event which last year attracted 145 players and was won by Julian Thew who lifted £42,740.
Players will start the £1,000 + £70 buy in no-limit hold’em tournament with 20,000 in chips and a one hour clock.
Elsewhere at the GUKPT festival the Goliath re-entry tournament attracted 1,954 entries, topping last year’s then record of 1,765 but short of the 2,500 the organizers hoped for.
Grosvenor added £4,600 to the prize pool making the total £200,000. The winner will receive £37,000.
