Finnish poker pro Jens Kyllönen will enter the highest limits possible when he boards a flight for space in 2014.
Kyllönen, who has been reaping the rewards of his online success, reserved his seat for a pricey €160,000. “I’ve always been fascinated with space and now that I have the opportunity to be within the first people going I just felt like I had to do it,” he says.
Kyllönen told Card Player Europe they are still at the testing stage at the moment but the first real flights are supposed to be starting at the end of next year. “So I’ll probably be going in 2014,” he explains.
The young professional is featured on the October issue of Card Player Europe where he discusses life, poker, and in particular the World Series of Poker One Drop event, which he bought directly into with his own money. He spoke of the flight when asked about luxuries and fun things bought for himself or others with his winnings.
When asked about any preflight training, Kyllönen answered, “There is a 3-4 day training period at the spaceport in New Mexico before the flight but other than that there isn’t any need for it. As long as you don’t have certain diseases you can go even if you are old or in bad shape.”
