The sixth event of this season's World Poker Tour is set to begin at the Bellagio today with the Festa al Lago $10,000 championship, an event that has been going on since the WPT began filming five years ago.

Card Player's entire tournament reporting team will be at the Bellagio for the event to provide live updates of all the action, so be sure to check back often to see how the event goes down.

If the preliminary events are any indication, the Bellagio will be packed with well-known players for the championship event. Matt Dean, Chip Jett, Nam Le, Shannon Shorr, Joe Sebok, and David Plastik have all made final tables in the prelims, but no one has performed like J.C. Tran so far.

Tran finished third in both $3,000 buy-in events spread at this year's Festa al Lago and took fifth in the $1,500 event, already winning $91,250. Since the end of February, Tran has more than $1.18 million in tournament winnings. That includes a $670,000 cash in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker main event, which he won after striking a deal near the end.

There are 19 events on this year's WPT schedule. After the Festa al Lago ends Friday, the WPT Canadian Open starts on Oct. 22, and the North American Poker Championship follows only three days later. Both events take place at Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort.

The World Poker Finals at Foxwoods starts Nov. 12, and the WPT returns to the Bellagio in December with Five Diamond World Poker Classic on Dec. 14, to finish up 2006.
