The $125,000 buy in PartyPoker Premier League VI has been won by U.S. hedge fund manager and poker player Daniel Shak.

Shak who beat World Series of Poker Big One For One Drop runner-up Sam Trickett heads up to collect $450,000 at Aspers Casino in London, said, “This is unbelievable. It has been a gruelling week and I am just glad I got through the heads-up as I think Sam would have beaten me if the pots were kept small. This is the best win of my career – the field was super tough.”

The final table of the complex league included notable names like Jennifer Tilly, Dan “Jungleman” Cates, Jonathan Duhamel, Tobias Reikenmeier and Antonio Esfandiari.

Players were split into two groups of eight and played four times each gaining points along the way. The top three from each group made the final table directly with fourth and fifth in each group playing off for the final spots. Among those who didn’t make the final were Phil Hellmuth and Phil Laak.

Esfandiari was knocked out in third to deny viewers a chance to witness a rematch of the One Drop heads up from last summer where Esfandiari triumphed over Trickett for $18 million.

The event will be broadcast in the UK on Sky TV from May 14, 2013.

The final table payouts were:
1: Dan Shak — $450,000
2: Sam Trickett — $200,000
3: Antonio Esfandiari — $150,000
4: Jonathan Duhamel — $125,000
5: Daniel “Jungleman” Cates — $100,000
6: Tobias Reinkemeier — $70,000
7: Jennifer Tilly — $60,000
8: Talal Shakerchi — $45,000
