Online Qualifier Bests Largest Ever Asian Field For HKD1.8 Million

The PokerStars Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon main event attracted the largest ever field to an Asian tournament at the weekend and it was online qualifier Terry Fan who walked away with the HK$1.77 million (€227,981) top prize.

A total of 891 players paid the HK$11,000 entry fee over three day 1s and Taiwan’s Fan started the final table as chip leader but at one stage was the short stack before doubling up twice.

Heads up he held an almost 2:1 lead over his final opponent Gie Reyes and it was all over in 20 minutes when they got all the chips in preflop with Fan’s As 5s up against Reyes Kd 8s.

Reyes hit an 8 on the flop but Fan rivered an ace for victory.
