The final table of the first event of the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia Pacific was an all-Australian affair. The $1,100 AUD buy-in no-limit hold’em accumulator drew a field of 661 entries with players turning out from around the world. In the end Luke Brabin emerged victorious, taking home $131,365 AUD ($115,491 USD) and his very first WSOP gold bracelet.

“It’s surreal obviously,” said Brabin after coming out on top. “I’ve never experienced anything like this. Only played 35 live tournaments in my life.”

In fact, this was the first WSOP event that Brabin ever entered.

He entered the final table as the chip leader and made it down to heads-up play with a gigantic chip lead lead over eventual runner-up Didier Guerin. On the final hand Guerin open shoved with the 9Diamond Suit8Diamond Suit from the button and was called by Brabin who held the KSpade SuitQClub Suit. The board ran out 7Heart Suit6Club Suit2Spade Suit2Club SuitQHeart Suit and just like that Brabin secured his biggest tournament win and the first bracelet of the 2014 WSOP APAC.
