2014 CarbonPoker Card Player Player of the Year Update -- Dylan Wilkerson Climbs To Sixth Place

Simon Deadman Also Makes On The Rise In The Top Twenty

There was plenty of movement this week in the 2014 Card Player Player of the Year race, sponsored by CarbonPoker. Here is a look at everything that went down over the past seven days:

World Poker Tour Emperors Palace Poker Classic

A total of 166 players turned out for the 2014 World Poker Tour Emperors Palace Poker Classic building a total prize pool of $457,839.

In the end Dylan Wilkerson emerged victorious, defeating Richard Barnard heads-up to capture his first World Poker Tour title and the $147,509 first-place prize in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Wilkerson also earned 468 Player of the Year points for his first win of the year at his fifth final table. With a second=place showing in the sizable WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star main event for $728,650 and his runner-up finish in the WPT Fallsview main event for another $205,925 already under his belt, Wilkerson now has year-to-date earnings of $1,223,816.

Wilkerson’s Player of the Year point total now sits at 3,784 which is good enough to move him into sixth place in the overall standings.

2014 Asia Championship of Poker $15,000 HKD

Simon DeadmanA total of 145 players turned out for the $15,000 KHD ($1,934 USD) buy-in no-limit hold’em prelim at the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker, building a $255,822 prize pool. While not the largest tournament of the past week, it did end up having sizable implications in regards to the top twenty of the 2014 POY standings.

Simon Deadman placed fourth for $22,217 and 144 POY points. This was the Nottingham native’s eighth final table finish of 2014, including a win in the Hollywood Poker Open Championship for $351,097.

As a result of his most recent deep run Deadman has climbed to 13th place in the POY rankings, with 3,142 points and year-to-date earnings of $765,221.
