Robert Mizrachi is part of one of poker’s most accomplished families alongside his brothers Michael “The Grinder”, Eric and Donnie. But Robert’s accomplishments stand on their own, and here at the 2015 World Series of Poker he has added another title to his impressive resume. Mizrachi topped a field of 918 players in the $1,500 Omaha eight-or-better event to capture his third career gold bracelet and the $251,022 first-place prize.
As a result of the win Mizrachi increased his lifetime earnings to more than $5.2 million. He was also awarded 912 Card Player Player of the Year points, enough to move him into 108th place in the POY rankings.
The final table in this event was set on Saturday night, but play was halted during heads-up play between Mizrachi and Portland, Oregon’s Jacob Dahl at around 3:30 AM local time. The two returned at 3:00 PM to play down to a champion, with Dahl holding just over a 3-to-2 chip lead. It took only 61 hands on the final day for Mizrachi to wrest the lead from Dahl and close out the win.
On the final hand Dahl raised from the button with the Q863 and Mizrachi made it three bets with the A655. Dahl four bet all in and Mizrachi called.
“Robert! Robert!” yelled his mother, Susan Laufer Mizrachi from the rail as the board ran out 1072103. With that Mizrachi made a 7-5-3-2-A to win the low and ten and fives for the high, scooping the pot and sending Dahl to the rail as the runner up. Dahl earned $155,333 for his strong showing.
