Philadelphia Planning Commission Says New Casino Will Need More Open SpaceLive! Hotel & Casino Philadelphia Must Meet Zoning Requirements |

The planned $500 million Live! Hotel & Casino Philadelphia needs two zoning-related issues corrected before it could be built, the city’s Planning Commission said this week, according to a report from Philly.com.
The casino doesn’t have enough open space and its planned digital signs would be too bright.
The city’s second Las Vegas-style casino would sit at 900 Packer Ave. in the the Stadium District. SugarHouse Casino is the other within city limits. There are an additional two casinos located just outside Philadelphia.
The project is a joint venture from Cordish Cos. of Baltimore and Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, which is based in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
Cordish owns Maryland Live! Casino and the latter operates Parx Casino.
Their license, which was awarded in November, is being challenged in court, however, so that is another hurdle that needs to be cleared before ground is broken. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court currently has the case it its hands, and a decision could come soon.
