A total of 161 players turned out for the 2015 World Series of Poker Europe €3,250 pot-limit Omaha eight-max event, building a prize pool of €468,510.
In the end the United Kingdom’s Richard Gryko emerged victorious, defeating Mike Leah heads-up to capture his first WSOP gold bracelet and the €126,345 first-place prize.
“The sight of the river card…I’ve never given a fist pump for winning a tournament before," said Gryko in regards to just how excited he was to win. "That alone should tell you how much it means. I haven’t really begun to process it, to be honest.”
Gryko had to overcome a stacked final table on the road to victory, outlasting the likes of Ismael Bojang (8th – €13,445), four-time bracelet winner Max Pescatori (7th – €17,240), Roberto Romanello (4th – €40,480_, and 2014 WSOP Asia Pacific high roller champ Mike Leah (2nd – €78,150).
Gryko came into the final day in second chip position and was able to survive to heads-up with Leah, who began the final showdown with a 2-to-1 chip advantage over Gryko. By the time the final hand arose Gryko held a sizable lead. With a flop of AK6 Leah moved all-in with the AK76 for top two pair and got called by Gryko’s AJ102 for top pair, a gutshot straight draw and a flush draw.
The board completed with the 10 on the turn and the 3 on the river to make Gryko’s flush, securing him the pot and title and sending Leah to the rail just short of his second bracelet.
